Latest update from Becky suggest it's 'same as', no improvement, and will be on dialysis shortly. Your messages have been appreciated. Cheers.
Terrible news ,really hoping everything turns out OK. Fantastic people and very generous in their commitment to Africa get well soon mate a round of applause is awaiting your attention down at Well. Cheers for updates whitey, I'm not on Facebook or owt so much appreciated.
Really sad news. Hope you pull through this Matt. Fight the good fight. There are pioneering anti-malaria drugs out there, but not widely recognised in countries that don't need them (the ones that spend the most on medicine development) I contracted Malaria and used one called Coartim, which worked wonders after just 5 days but needs to be taken soon after first symptoms Mosquito nets are the biggest life saver. Having seen first hand how quickly Malaria can destroy a family, and a child, Matt seems to have it really acute. My thoughts and prayers will be with Matt and his friends and family.
Gutted to hear this. I've played football with Matt a few times and he's a really nice fella. Thoughts are with him and his family.
Re: Get well soon lad Had first dose of dialysis yesterday, but it'll be a few days and more doses before he'll hopefully begin to improve/get better. Fingers crossed.
Every time i come on here I dread new replies in this thread for fear of the worst. Get well soon Matt, hope you pull through this.
Me too mate. From what I have read about Malaria, when it gets to the stage of renal failure the prognosis is usually pretty bleak. At least a small mercy that he came down with it in the USA rather than Africa, I'm sure he's in the best of hands. Keep fighting Matt.
The malaria parasites inside Matt's body are down to just 1% now, they were at over 10% at the weekend, whatever all that means. His kidneys and liver aren't still functioning, but he's now stable in ICU and the dialysis is helping it's thought. Thanks for all the messages, I'm sure he'd appreciate them and fingers crossed we hear more positive news as soon as possible. Cheers.
Wish his family all the best Andy. Terrible disease but curable if caught in good time. Keeping my fingers crossed for him and his family.
