Still waiting for an update today, but last night Becky told us that he'd had an x-ray on his chest and his lungs have halved in size. It looks like he's suffering from ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). He will most likely need ventilating. It's as serious as the malaria itself. But as I say, still waiting for further news today. Cheers.
Thankyou for the updates Whitey Much Appreciated. Pass on to Becky that all our thoughts and prayers are with him.
They're aware of the thread and it's well wishes within it. I'm looking forward to Matt adding a post to it himself, soon as possible, God willing. Lovely photo of him on the charity's facebook page which I'll link you to here: https://www.facebook.com/OneByOne.n...0199057043487/775979355798785/?type=1&theater If you can't view it for whatever reasons I apologize, but if you can, I'm sure you'll be able to get updates on his health on there too. Thanks again for the kind words and well wishes. There was a reason I used to defend him non stop on here. I was biased. He's a friend and a good one at that.
From Becky: Matthew Update: He's having an echo done at the moment for his heart as X-ray shows it's enlarged due to all the fluid. Lungs still not doing good so monitoring that daily, he may require a chest drain. Dialysis starting at lunch as kidneys worse today. This is a long, hard battle but we know our God is faithful.
Latest update: He is still continuing to breath by himself, despite further deterioration to his lungs, which is amazing. His heart echo shows it's still enlarged from all the fluid but praying the dialysis will help pull some of this off. He is having another scan this morning to check he doesn't have a blood clot on his lungs. Thank you so much to everyone who is praying for us, we can feel the effects of your prayers, so please keep them coming!
Conscious. He was well enough to Skype his little boy today. He'll come through this, getting great treatment.
That's good, Whitey. I may have disagreed with some of his dissemblings in the past but I wish the feller well. And his family.
A little update... Matthew just posted this on Twitter "Thanks for all lovely comments Reds fans. Still in intensive care and a long way to go but feeling much better."
