but then they didn't have contraception. Diptheria, small pox, polio, even measles wiped out a large part of the infant population. They didn't have a welfare state that picked up the pieces, whereas now it does for, in some cases, a lack of social responsibility. I'm not suggesting that we should go back to an 'urchin' state, but both me and the missus came from shall we say errrr rough backgrounds, but we didn't rush into procreation and left it six years after we were married to have our kids when we could provide for them. May sound old fashioned but I'd like to think my kids will do the same.
Disfunctional families Barnsley has more than its fair share. I reckon this kind of thing happens more than you'd believe, and worse, its only headline news cos the media got duped.
Is that bird on the left the one who won X Factor or the BBC version of it? Or summat? I forget her name
RE: but then they didn't have Yup, so what you are saying is that it's all about understanding social responsibility and understanding that the Welfare State is there as a back up. So, we still need a Welfare State, but better education (ossibly on the end of a big stick) to tell folk what it is there for. When you say you didn't rush into procreation... you did practise though didn't you?
Strangely, since all this kicked off, not a peep about the Maddy scenario. Never a mention these days.
That's exactly my point I just think there's a lack of respect in society and mainly it's a lack of self respect, I mean seven kids to five different Dads... in which world can that be right ?</p> The welfare state should be a safety net not a career choice in my opinion.</p> As Dirk says 'Britain is fecked'</p> </p> </p> .... I didn't 'do it' until we decided to have kids and used to carry my gonads around in a wheel barrow.... oh aye !!! THAR SHE BLOWS !!!!</p> </p>
RE: but then they didn't have Panorama last night had a copper on who was in charge of that area - he witnesses daily what goes on - made the point that the likes of Matthews live without a sense of right and wrong, they understand though that the more kids they have the more money the state gives them. They have no boundaries, whatever they think they'll get away with then they'll do it. There's been too much 'understanding' of these people and not enough kicks up the backside to get them turned round and contributing to society.</p> It'll take two or three generations to sort this, assuming the Govt of the day has the political will to do it. </p>
RE: but then they didn't have had many a do in the pub with the scroungers, they dont understand why i get narky when they brag about getting sky + , free this free that 8 pints of lager and smoking like a chimney etc for doing nothing except havign a 'bad back and/or dropping brats out when i work 40 a week for a pittance and cannot get close to having some the luxuaries that they indulge in.
"I reckon this kind of thing happens more than you'd believe" You mean parents kidnapping their own kid and tethering them in a flat and trying to claim a reward? You're right - this 1 instance is more than I'd believe!
