Ethan Pinnock and Liam Lindsay were both worth more with 12 months left on their contracts than with 24 months left on their contracts. Rather than questioning the sanity of that, I would question the sanity of people who go back and edit posts and completely change what they typed, just to try and take aim at someone. Bizarre behaviour.
I'd be hard pressed to provide empirical evidence as to why, but I get the same impression as you. Where as Helik and Morris I believe will want to play in a higher league. Again, just the impression I get. Collins, I don't know. Don't really care about anyone else.
This lad should be happy anyway - Duff was his U23 manager who recruited him at Burnley Hope he can show a helluva lot more than last season now.
Perhaps and it's a big perhaps, we are not in such bad shape squad wise as we thought, even after 6 or 7 players sold ,to keep the club afloat. It maybe just down to having the right coaching team. As always, my disclaimer is that I really don't know anything about football, despite sometimes trying to sound like I do.
Yep, you'd hope that at least some of the players would respond to a more motivational leader than the two wet fish we had last season.
And me. If as expected we’re playing 3-5-2 under Duff I think a midfield of Wolfe, Kane and Benson could be very decent. Expect Helik and Styles to be gone so LWB is key for me. If we can keep Morris and Woodrow I reckon we could be on for 50 goals between them. Even Morris and Leya Iseka could well get over 40 given decent service.
There's definitely a player in there for sure. I worry about his lack of speed/pace, but dropping to League One will help and Conor wasn't blessed with pace. Confidence must have been shot to bits last season. Same goes for 2/3 more of the players too - not that they helped themselves either at times.
Really can't see Woodrow being here as our top earner. Any club our size getting relegated would need to take £500k off the wage bill when it belongs to one player. Be interesting to see where he ends up. But I'd be massively surprised if he was names in the squad for that first game of the season.
I think we should keep an open mind. For me central midfielder next to Wolfe would be crucial. I wouldn't write Palmer off, but after last season I wouldn't really want him as first choice, unless he was playing in a 3, with someone who could drive on. With 5 subs next season we need to think about replacements, if we play a high press. There needs to be a clear out, so a lot will depend on suitable offers. Pray someone comes in for Cole & Iseka, as they don't seem interested in working. Morris's injury record may allow us to keep him. Who really knows? Answers on a postcard TBH.
Alfie's a great lad and has pace to burn but signed a new two and a half year contract in January (and there's rumoured to be plenty of suitors for him in the Championship too).
