Personally, I am not distraught over this. I would've loved him to stay, but I think we have potential in the squad to step-in, especially with the comfort of our current points total. However, just out of curiosity, I would love to know the reasoning behind this decision, and who made it; BFC. Matty, Foxes, etc.
Absolutely loved watching Matty James play and I’m gutted he’s gone but like others have said maybe he wanted to be closer to home and who’s to say we haven’t got more permanent signings lined up,
If they are paying 18k then so be it - would rather money was used to improve Alex's contract and bring in other signings up front and defensively.
This ^^^ A player who’s got a family and has also had injury problems, needs to be a short drive away from training and matches. Achilles, calf and hamstrings are done no favours by a footballer sat on the M1 for probably a return journey of nearly 4 hours. I suspect the initial deal suited both parties, and now it doesn’t. I don’t think this is all the clubs fault, just one of those things. Be nice if MJ released something on social media to give background.
It's a shame he's not coming back. Nobody can honestly say that he didn't improve our side. Brilliant player. If it's his choice to go there instead, all I can imagine is that it's because it's closer to home for him. Understandable given what's going on at the minute. This makes Mowatt staying doubly important. If we can get someone to play left wing back, and finally move Styles back centrally, I reckon we'd still be able to make the same progress. It seems like our club didn't have much say in whether James would return. Best of luck Matty. Great player. Now is the time to move on.
