I thought the idea was that he plays a year in the Championship and adds to his value - plus we get the benefit of him for the forthcoming season. He is contracted till 2018 and whatever we got for him now we would then need a ready made replacement. So I would doubt we would be selling till next summer.
This was posted by an account with FOUR followers on Twitter. Why do people believe this **** and not look at the source?!
Never said i believed it, was simply highlighting what was said & what did people think about it... Like you say twitter is full of sh*t
I know you didn't pal, but one new transfer nonsense account posts it, then suddenly gullible fans are tweeting Alan Nixon asking if it's true, re-posting it on Barnsley rumour accounts etc. Silly season is an understatement.
I guess everyone has their price... £3 million & a 15% sell on clause & we'd have to be tempted I reckon. Below that, na. Would love to get Long back. To be fair he only played a couple of games for MK Dons, so can hardly be blamed for them going down. He's not gonna get game time at Burnley, so likely to be moving. He's played very few games for a 25 year old & most of those (other than ones at Burnley) have been in the lower divisions. I couldn't see Long costing more than a million, due to past injury problems. I'd like both Mawson & Long, but at those sort of prices would be good business IMO.
If he played for Leeds or Forest or even Sheff U or Peterboro, he'd be worth 5million. Were just seen as a soft touch and never get the transfer fees other clubs get. 3million?? no way. At the minute hes only a league 1 proven player, give him 6 months in the championship (where i reckon he will flourish) and hes a top championship ball playing free kick taking english centre half. In these times of daft transfer fees....no change from 6 million surely
I don't necessarily understand this affliction with Long, I thought he was awful when he came, utterly terrible in one game against Wigan at Oakwell and granted he did improve significantly but I wouldn't say he was a shoe in answer to our defensive problems if Mawson does move on. Remember he was playing in the Division below and wasn't exactly brilliant throughout his tenure here although like I said he did improve and I was sad to see him go back to Burnley at that point of the season. He then went to the championship to MK Dons and only played 2 games in 2 months, so can't have been seen to be all that great by a team that went down. I think he'd be great as back up for Roberts and Mawson but not as a replacement imho of course.
