Danny was sacked, I felt it was harsh, I thought the timing of it was ridiculous and the reasons given for his dismissal were hard to swallow. But we've been over all that and as soon as Lee Johnson was appointed that for me was the time to move on. Danny's moved on. He's in Dubai with his compo and probably resting up before getting back on the horse. So whilst I am always going to be grateful for what he achieved here with us back in the 90's, I support BFC first and foremost and I doubt he gives two fcuks whether folk are defending him or not on a bloody forum. But I agree with JC's view. Of the games I've seen since Danny was fired, the performances haven't looked much different. There's no point folk saying "that's absolute rubbish" because I have my own eyes and I judge what I see using them, not someone else's. If others believe what they've seen since Danny left has been much better, fair do's. We all see different things, otherwise we'd all be shagging the same bird. I think last night gave us a small pointer regards LJ's ethos and the 'identity' he speaks of. We kept the ball much better than we have most of the season. But we still created very little and we still gave the opposition clear chances to score. It's also to be noted that a lot of these laikers will only improve with every game. They're young, and finding their feet. Credit to Danny for recruiting/promoting them all. If it has taken a new pair of eyes and a new identity to get better results out of them, brilliant. And if we continue to get good results until the end of the season then perhaps then I'll find it easier to understand the removal of Wilson. You Reds.
Under duress from our gurt I had to clear some of my **** out of the attic. Found my entire collection of South Ridings. Albert Fairweather is alive ad well in the 21st Century indeed... Agree with all the points you make there.
Like I said last night the entertainment factor needs working on. Can't complain at the wins and clean sheets, but people need entertaining if they want folks to splash out 300 plus quid in a few months time. A young target man playing lone striker at home doens't look good. Coventry could have been out of sight in the first half with them hitting the post, the deflection from Davies clearing and the save Davies made from a slight offside. We created nothing in the first half.
Johnson will probably get away with criticism this season. When we win it'll be his good management, when we lose it will be Wilson's poor recruitment. The knives will be sharpened for next season. Lose a game then and he'll be in trouble. Mostly from the people who are now telling you that you're blind if you can't tell the difference between how well we've played since he's taken over and the ***** Wilson served up.
Some people just need to let it go that wilson has been sacked There isn't huge differences but I do think you can see small changes hes trying to implement. The high pressing game, although not quite to the standards we were undler flitcrofts survival season is a tactic I really like and think its successful. I beleive had flitcroft continued with it he'd still be manager and we'd maybe still be in championship. Were trying to get more players forward to join attacks I certainly wont be blaming Wilson for the recruitment if we lose, becuase despite what people say about Crynes son and Mansford, I think we have recruited well and I credit Wilson for it. Maybe its psychological that I enjoyed last nights game much more than many of the wins under Wilson, but i do think you can see small changes
I think we've looked slightly better organised since Danny left but I've not seen much difference from us in possession. I'm of the view that it wasn't a fair decision to sack Danny at the time but it could prove to be the right decision if Johnson improves us, a bit like when Adkins made way for Pochettino at Southampton. I think one things for certain & that's that Danny was the one that blooded many of the young lads. 14 senior debuts speaks for itself & if plenty of these lads make it then we've a lot to be thankful to him for but Johnson's the manager now & with Scowen looking better & better & O'Sullivan improving the side & Winnall, Ramage & Jennings hopefully coming back into the team shortly we've got a great shot of finishing the season well & nicking one of the two available play off spots.
I'm not saying last night's game wasn't enjoyable. I enjoyed it very much. A hell of a lot more than the Fleetwood game. But no more so than the victories over Crewe, Oldham, Port Vale and Yeovil. And considerably less than the victories over Colchester, Burton, Bradford and Gillingham, the two away victories I've seen at Rochdale and Sheff Utd and even the home draw against Bristol City. Even the 3-2 home loss to Notts County was, for the majority of the game, a far superior display. Wins make you feel good, but I've seen us play much, much better this season and lose as well as playing much, much better while hammering the opposition, so to speak of an improvement just seems odd to me. Not that I expect one when the manager has only been in charge two minutes. I'm happy that we won, but as I haven't been to an away game for a while, I've mostly seen us win anyway, playing a very similar brand of football that leaves chances for both sides at a premium. Coventry actually enjoying more than many recent visitors.
