I think it's quite funny tbh. I said at the world cup don't go to another nation and tell them what to do or how to live, if you feel so strongly boycott it. All went getting on the moral high ground. Don't feel strongly about it now do they hypocrites.
I never thought that area was particularly bothered about football? Like, snooker has gone to China but they get big crowds and it's a growing sport over there.
Their money pit is pretty much bottomless. They were ready to offer Tiger Woods between $500mn and $1bn
But you need infrastructure too, otherwise why dont they just carry on buying top European league teams?
On the flip side, they’ve dug Chelsea out of a huge hole this summer! Smacks of previous Russian, Japanese, Chinese and US attempts to break out into globally important league status.

This is a good video which explains really well the background to Saudi Arabia's history and motivations - basically they've got 30 years to do something other then produce oil as income. attracting the best players from the most globally followed sport on the planet makes sense in this context. Its also a good reminder they've killed hundreds of thousands of people in Yemen.
Let em all go chasing the oil Money there's only so many teams out there they can only take so many players.
