Or embracing the fundamentals of teh English game Stop thinking we can play continental style football as good as the best and get back to English style football, fast pace and aggressive, it nearly worked for Scotland, has worked for ROI in the past, and their players are pony compared to ours. Get a motivational manager in and lest's shove it up em!!! Oh and drop the fancy dans.
Surprise Thought so. I've already said that apart from Bentley, who I wouldn't have anywhere near the team, I don't believe that the charge of "not caring" can stick to any of the others. You are just like most folk, assuming that because someone earns loads of money then they can't be bothered. Or more likely just taking your opinions from the snot-rags. How many England games have you been to recently then?
"English Style Football" won't work when we get to a major championship, middle of summer, 30 degrees, you've got to be able to vary your game, look after the ball, and open teams up with incisive attacking play, something we seem unable to do !!!!!!!!!
Not having a go at you specifically Even though it might seem so! But why not ask Mr Ferguson as well? He has 9 English players out of 22 in first team squad. We might think they are all fancy dans who don't care a toss about England but at least Fergie thinks there are some players in England who can do a job. P.S. I hate Manchester United.
The crux of the problem Many "fans" think that players aren't trying and don't care unless they run around like maniacs. The biggest cheer at a Barnsley match is when a forward sprints back and attempts to tackle an opposition player in out half.
You're not telling me that Rooney is giving his all for McClaren, I simply dont believe it. and like the majority of Man United players, they have it drilled into them that club comes before country by Sir Alex. how many times have they pulled out of squads and then miraculously been fit to play for United at the weekend? I've been to 4 games under McClaren, seen all the others on tv, for the record.
I think you over estimate Fergusons influence on Rooney. Whether or not Rooney has performed to his best ability for England, has no bearing on what Ferguson may or may not have told him. Rooney pretty much wants to play football and win and anyone else can **** off. Once Rooney is on the pitch, nobody has any control over him in reality. For the record - I think England play in white?
RE: you will be eating humble pie when we beat Germany in the Final I wouldn't say a free kick in added time against Greece was qualifying with ease
RE: But what brief are they given You may be correct and maybe it's the Man Utd players that everyone is saying don't care - but folk for some reason are happy to tar all with the same brush. My point was really about whether managers think that English players are good enough to play for a team wanting to challenge for the top honours.
I think it's your tone If you can have tone on a bulletin board. Comments like ... "You are just like most folk" "more likely just taking your opinions from the snot-rags" and "How many England games have you been to recently then?" ... don't exactly encourage people to want to enter into debate with you. Can't you see that?
Sorry I hurt Dirk's feelings ..but I'm sure he's a big boy and can look after himself. By the way: "You tell me. Watch a few games" was hardly entering into debate after the original genuine question was it?
I used to think that but since the well publised bust up between Rooney and McClaren over his substitution and playing him as lone front man, I think Fergie has made mileage out of it and dont under estimate the guys ability to get under the skin of a player. if he can pull Cantona's strings, he can certainly do the same with Rooney. I see a different Rooney in and England shirt than when he plays for United, one that aint prepared to bust a gut or a metatarsal to save the skin of a bloke he clearly doesnt like.
your opinion is from bog roll, that's been wiped on a badgers arse. I'm getting the hang of this debating lark. There is no doubt, that Rooney cannot really play to his strenths and the best of his ability when he is asked to be a lone striker and he certaintly hasn't got the diplomacy to put that point across without losing his rag. My guess is that whatever was said at the time by Rooney to McClaren is at least forgotten by Rooney, look at his relationship with Ronaldo to see if he really holds grudges. I still believe if you put Rooney in the park on a Sunday, he'd work his arse off to win, whether he liked you or not. I'm sure he did work his socks off as a lone striker as well, but was frustrated as **** at the lack of back up once he had the ball. .
