If you think the biggest talking point from today's player analysis is how McCourt played them you need to have a word with yourself.

    Not at all

But it wasn't me who started a thread, demanding I (amongst others) defend a player's poor performance, simply for having the audacity to admire and sing the praises of an extremely skilful player. I responded, posting with the same attitude, yet you choose to challenge my approach and not his.
You amongst others, may or may not like or rate him. I do and will defend my view if necessary, or (as in this case) if demanded by others.

Fully Agree!!! We were **** as a unit our shape was completely wrong from the off and they murdered us. Everytime somebody in the middle got the ball there were 3 of they around us, McCourt, Mellis did very little. On the flip side it was encouraging to finish the game as we did, should have been 2-2 Ogrady needs to be scoring those.

I said exactly the same thing to my son at the match. He would have ah a field day against us.
We played 1 man up front so had an extra man in midfield, everytime McCourt got the ball there were 3 Derby players around him, so where did all the extra Reds players disappear to ? We should have had more players than them spare at that moment but Paddy had no-one to pass to!!

Prefer Cywka over McCourt, he's pacey, skillful and isn't afraid to shoot from anywhere.

So you think ironically cheering him off the field is a good thing?

Hehe. Yh fair point, I'd forgot about the OP by the time I read yours. Just irked me a bit as you were throwing it at me too as a paddy detractor. I'm probably easy to irk as well this evening. No offence meant.

    My two penneth on P.Mc

Team playing well and winning games and not leaking goals can afford a 'luxury player like P.Mc

A team that isnt can't. Unless he's utilised correctly.

That's what I'd be doing in training.

Paddy gets closed down, where is the free man waiting to shoot? Where is the follow up?
We need to worry teams from all angles, not just from Paddy. When we fo that, Paddy will get more freedom.

Exactly, why on earth do we need quality players.

No offence taken or intended towards you and the others, mate. It was a pitiful, childish post by myself. I was just going to claim I was throwing a paddy, but that'd be bad, even for me!:D It goes to show I'm just as capable as the next man for throwing an immature, insolent hissy fit.
I've always thought you were one of the better posters on here, mate, and definitely a good egg. Please accept my apologies.

We do need quality players. Quality players who are going to put some effort in to play as a team. If we're not going to utilize Paddy, which we aren't at the minute and if we can get a decent sum for him in January, we should sell him.

At the minute, he's a liability.

Use him or lose him, that's all I'm getting at.

No need to defend him. Class in an ocean of mediocrity. In a half-decent side he would run riot. If only he was playing against players of our full-backs' quality every week.

Strange how the game improved when he and Etuhu went off.

He was ****. Like 7 other laikers out there. But he's still our best player in terms of skill.

Now, if our other 9 outfield lads didn't just stand and watch him we might be on to something...

He had a poor game. Saying he's not fit to wear the shirt again is ridiculous. He's got sublime quality and passing and vision that can open up a game like no one else we have; that is worth the fact that most of what he does doesn't come off. How come Mellis (who I thought was a passenger) doesn't get this stick?

He's one of the very few mercurial talents I've ever had the fortune to see in a Barnsley shirt and unless he gives up the ghost (which wouldn't surprise me with morons cheering him off) then I'll always defend him

Poor performance but not in the bottom three. He created what little we did in the first half. The other outfield players just run away rather than supporting him. When Derby's flair players were on the ball they had two others supporting the,m and could play the ball in triangles to create space we just gave it to Paddy and watched. When he plays the ball into space for our players they either react too slowly (Wiseman) or take an age to control the ball then turn back into trouble (Dawson and O'Brien). Returning from injury should have been used as an impact sub rather than a starter.

The amount of times Kennedy is free on the left only for player on the ball to turn back inside makes me laugh my **** off
You can see it in their face, "Not wasting my time giving it to that ****er"
