Not sure there's ever a reason to give out dogs abuse, but it happens on here a lot more than it should, IMHO. Some mother's son and all that...
He was a sub against Wolves so what's your point? His first touch sliced wildly out of play to put us under pressure. Leeds he did fine in a team win, but there were far better players that day. His passing is ***** every week and he puts us in trouble when none need exist in many games.
Are we talking about last year's players player of the year? The one who's had a disrupted season with injury and not been able to find form this year? But he's an awful footballer? Dagnall syndrome
So you were wrong to say he didn't play well then? Or do you mean that when we win and keep a clean sheet it's thanks to the team but when we concede 5 it's all his fault. Christ.
I liked him last season, did well. Hence the interest from other clubs in the summer. Just hasn't happened thus season for various reasons. Doesn't mean he should be wrote off. We lack any concept of collective responsibility at times
No idea what you're on about mate? If you are resorting to weak attempts at picking holes in my sentence to 'prove' your point then I think you know the truth of the situation with McNulty. He's a poor defender. It isn't always his fault when we concede of course but to use one game against Leeds where he did OK as a basis for your argument doesn't really add up in my view. Just opinions though, but I'll struggle to change my view on McNulty who is weak as piss defensively and can't pass. Not sure what else he needs to be **** at to make you realise. Remeber the Blackburn game at Oakwell... ******* awful.
I'll clear it up for you. Am I trying to argue that he's a good defender? No. Redstar said he never does well. I said he played well in his last two games so does sometimes do well. You said he didn't. I argued he did by implying we'd conceded no goals and won both games. You said he did fine in a team win, pretty much proving my point for me. Now you're talking about the Blackburn game which is completely irrelevant to my argument.
If we're going to reduce this to semantics, I said he did "fine" in response to you saying he played "well". I would suggest that playing "fine" is a lower level of performance than playing "well" - certainly from my subjective usage of the terms. As for Wolves, I don't think he played "well" at all and pointed out an example of why from that game. If you think that is "pretty much proving my point for me" then who am I to argue. But this conversation is getting a bit silly now anyway.
Apart from the one on tuesday you mean? He was awful then as well. Fortunatelly everyone else played well so his **** ups didn't cause a problem.
He made a huge mistake against Wolves when he tried to kick the ball forwards and somehow in a style that only he can do, managed to kick the ball almost at right angles to his body 40 yards across the pitch and out of play giving them the ball back in our half.
It would be wrong to say McNulty has never had a good game for us because he has, he just seems very error prone. The game is so quick these days that players need to act instinctively, trouble with McNulty is he thinks far too much and before you know it he's under pressure from a defender or put the ball out of play unnecessarily...I get the impression he himself is always worried about making a mistake and this is why he takes too long to get shut of the ball and is scared to make a tackle.
Agreed it's very boring now. I'm not alone in saying he had a good game against Leeds, in fact I recall him being called superb by someone. Naturally everyone highlights the one 'mistake' against Wolves despite the countless headers won, as it fits their agenda. Everyone can't wait to jump on the backs of some players and I'm tired of attempting to defend them, and god forbid, 'support' them.
McNulty is sh!te........full stop. Never has been and never will be a Championship centre half. The sooner BFC can see this and accept it.......the better. SELL NOW !!!
