Tbf to Conor its not really his team, it just highlights how poor our recruitment has been that nobody can get a tune out of them.
It wasn't really Clarke's team either thought was it? It was moron Mladen's team. Clarken should not have been sacked in my opinion.
Didn’t strengthen in January and if we daydream through summer we will carry this form into next season and the rest will be history.
thing is though at least Clarke got results - we keep getting told the teams improving but we keep losing.
I don't disagree, but in that case it's unfair to lay blame at conor's doorstep, plus he's just started in the role 9 games or whatever, he'll need time and lots of patience
Still don It’s really not , it’s just same as, and was always going to be until we get shut of the players that make the same mistakes time after time and find somebody to create some meaningful chances and somebody knows how to put the ball in the net consistently! Nobody could do anything with the ridiculously unbalanced squad that was assembled with apparently zero thought. I think Conor will be allowed to do this or he wouldn’t have taken the job
The more I think about that window, the only thing that makes any sense is categorising it as cost cutting, if you couldn't get the players you wanted then fine just go with what you have.
I'm a bit torn here. On one hand this performance is exactly the opposite of the programme notes. Not giving Shrewsbury the respect they deserve. Leaving gaps in defence. On the other hand, if the high press is to be pursued then gaps in behind are inevitable. It just looks awful when Barnsley come up against a regimented, almost impenetrable row of white shirts and then Shewsbury encounter little resistance at all. But for the most part, they do not get out of their own half because the tackles are coming further up the pitch.
Somebody tell me that if Darrell Clarke was still here we’d not have got more points in the last eight games, and explain your reasoning please. This is absolutely diabolical. And to be clear, I thought Clarke was sh.ite, I didn’t want him here - but why on earth has Hourihane been seen as the right man? On what evidence? The squad might be cak, it might not be ‘his team’ (it wasn’t Clarke’s in his defence, there’s no way he wanted what he got), but he was doing markedly better than this. How is this not a concern? Why are people so enthusiastic for next season? I don’t get it. Hourihane has made a poor team a terrible one.
Nine games…. One win. Relegation form. He’s not addressed any of the fundamental defensive errors. He was also part of the coaching staff that got us here in the first place. I’m not convinced. We needed a root and branch clear out….
