Lofthouse up front is the biggest, most public 'buy a f.cking a striker' I might ever have seen. Fair play. Cotter looked like a Prem player for half an hour. Marsh worked his b.llocks off, Russell looked like he won a raffle. All in all great result.
Followed tonight through the BBS, thanks for the updates all. Buzzing with this result. Really pleased for Cotter and it does go to show that sometimes perservering with players and giving them the minutes to find their feet can pay off. Hopefully lots of smiles in the camp for the rest of the week.
Don't want to complain after a great victory, but we have to stop putting Russell on. Benson and Nwakali were on the bench. Neither may be fully fit but they didn't need to be. We only needed 20 minutes out of them and adrenalin would have taken then through that. Russell just strolls around and we're not good enough to carry a player doing that. Plus it's unfair to the rest of them who've run themselves into the ground.
Granted, that was at best a less than second string for dem blades. But, I think we deserved to edge that. Little in it. But a well crafted move was finished off beautifully by Max. And the Reds looked more of a unit than in any of the previous games. Something, then, to build upon. Cannot be arsed with player ratings tonight. But Max and Baz get my high marks. Vim impressed. Nothing between the rest who all did well. Reds.
Looked a really good goal. We had a bit of good fortune and forgot to play for the last 15 minutes, but showed a bit of character. Well done reds.
I've always liked the man, even when he wasn't playing great. He never stopped giving 100%; it just didn't always work out for him. I think his brain was sending messages quicker than the legs could accept them. I wish more people could see this, and not write off new players so quickly. Some take a long time to come good, but the wait is worth it.
A decent performance all round, better after the break. Lovely move for the goal. I love Cotter, got to be my favourite player. I liked him last season, but more because of his absolute craziness, but he's putting some performance alongside his crazy now.
He's one of those wonderful footballers, that I have an awful lot of time for, that isn't very good at football but it's topped off by the fact he doesn't seem to enjoy playing football either.
Just showing up and putting the graft in like the rest of us. Everybody's had a job they just weren't very good at - I like the idea that footballers do as well.
Well I really enjoyed that even if it was unbearably tense towards the end. When Hamer came on I feared the worst and he nearly turned it around for them but our defence held out. There were so many great tackles and interceptions all over the pitch tonight and the team looked really up for it, despite the low home crowd. I wasn't there so I'm not criticising but we all missed a great victory (the absentees I mean). I've only just got round to reading this thread because I had my iphone in my hand throughout the match and didn't want to put it down and miss anything important just to read all the criticism on here. Ok, the first half wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. We really stepped it up in the second half though and the whole team played their part to get us over the line. Let's hope for a great end to the week with a decent signing or two and a win at Crawley. It's about time we beat that lot from Sussex. Played two, lost two with a 1-6 goal difference. I think we'll get the three points this time and then go on a winning run. There's far too much negativity on here for the club at the moment so I think it's about time we all got behind them for another go at promotion. It won't take much to get us there. I know plenty will disagree but I've already seen plenty of good things this season and it's only going to get better in the coming weeks.
I didn't think we'd win when the draw was made, to be honest. But it's great that we picked a strong team tonight and really wanted to win it. A really deserved well done to them from me.
Exactly. Convincing folk to pay him money he's not worth for a job he's not great at. A true hero in my book.
