Yep. that was truly awful and the reality check is deafening. not really impressed by any of the new bunch and sadly unless money we don't have is thrown at a out and out striker then league 1 is it for a while. missed Norwood today as his style would have upset Morecambe but we looked clueless in the 1st half with over the top balls to nobody and passing astray from all our midfield...like Duff but his initial momentum seems to be stalling..
Cant make my mind up are they not good enough or don't give a **** but what I do know that's level is no where near. Three games not a decent chances made let alone scored they are a league two side and we had aload of the ball and created nothing.
4 good chances today. Two hit the target, one of those a decent save. Collins didn't have to make a save, unless I missed summat. As soft a goal as you are ever likely to see.
What 4 would they be the from Cadden that the keeper saved with his leg What were the 4 the one saved by the keepers legs from Cadden is the only I can remember if you think that was an acceptable performance we will have to agree to disagree I'm not one for knee jerk reaction but that's way way off the mark.
I'm not hoping to get carried away, we have what now.....4 poor performances back to back?....I would include Fleetwood too. I still think we are a mid table team...and better than some and worse than others. Our play today was rubbish ....long balls to no one and very poor short range passing. Resulting in nothing up front. I can't decide if we are good and out of sorts or just really poor. I'm going for the first one...but as Rotherham shows you do not need to be worldies to be successful in this division....you need to be solid....organized and have an out ball and someone to hold it up. I do think Duff will turn it around but we need a half decent striker to complement cole
Did you have your eyes shut then when Benson found his shooting boots? That one going into the top corner was the best bit all day long. Great save by the keeper
Dreadful performance. Dreadful result. No excuses. However, this is also the same team who drew at Ipswich, won at Wednesday and got into the Play Off positions. Today's the sort of display that generates knee jerk comments. Which is why I don't see the need to point score against fellow supporters when we win. Football has a habit of biting you on the bum when you do that. As some other poster succinctly put it a few days ago, we're consistently inconsistent.
It won't be long until most of you start to see what I got lambasted for saying. Duff has 1 tactic and if it fails is unable to adapt and change his plan. Clearly evident today that the players are doing as he instructed. Never ever seen a Barnsley team that are so reluctant to go and try and beat their man. Tactically the method being drilled into them is don't run at players, just pass it about, then eventually either play a shocking short easy pass giving away possession or hoof it up down the flank to nobody. It's awful to see the team you travel and support chug out rubbish like that.
Is there any need for the attitude but your right the Benson strike was decent but from about 70% of the ball we up to two decent chances but if your happy fair do's.
Thomas is the only player we have that runs with the ball and drives the opposition back. There’s no one to do that now he’s injured. Martin was the one I thought could take that role on but christ, how poor does he look?
Knee Jerk? We have had 1 half decent performance against Wednesday and rode our luck v Ipswich big style. In fact Wednesday had more than enough chances to get at least a drawer but due to their poor finishing got nothing. It wasn't because we were so good.. Nobody takes pleasure in being critical and it's not point scoring either, just people with valid views on what they pay hard earned money to see. There isn't a single person on here that would be delighted if we were playing. I don't even mind losing providing I see an acceptable level of quality and simple basic football skills being employed. All too often this season we have been woeful, and I 100% believe much of it is down to the managers tactics and his inability to change/adapt.
Yes, knee jerk. I'm quite happy & relaxed for others to hold alternative opinions to me. I'm simply stating mine.
No, far from acceptable, but was just pointing out we had four good chances - two early on down the far end (one saved, one wide) and two in the second half - Benson shot tipped over & Kane flashed one not far wide.
Not an "attitude" as such. Just sick of the moaning and criticising on here tonight. Anybody would think we had just lost the game that got us relegated to non-league. Some have gone way over the top with the negativity. It wasn't a good game but a bit of perspective would be nice. No - I'm not happy. I wasted £10 watching that rubbish on iFollow but I've seen them play worse. We're just running down too many blind alleys lately. That lovely flowing football from a few weeks ago has deserted us. It will come back though. The core of this team will keep us mid-table as a minimum but if we can somehow add a bit of quality in January - up front especially - then a top ten finish, or higher, shouldn't be beyond them. At the moment we are relying on Cole who is decent but hardly one to lead the line and Norwood who is also decent but temperamentally suspect. I've got tickets for Tuesday and next Saturday and expect us to bank six points. Mind you, this morning I was saying to myself that will be nine points this week with us sitting on 30 and probably top four by this time next week
I feel the same. Way, WAY over the top on here tonight in many quarters. We should expect that though. It's all or nothing with some people. I'll be patient and see how the season looks in January.
