you sound like a smart bloke...

so how on earth did you end up in a situation where you got your brothers ST taken off you for doing the birdy dance towards the directors box at a football match?

RE: She wanted and needed to break the NUM...............agree, but

Redundancies

....................no miners............no NUM
OR
....................far fewer miners................less power of the NUM

She could have done it bit by bit................instead we had the strike and all its consequences
One of those consequences is that Barnsley as a town has never recovered economically

RE: you sound like a smart bloke...............nope.........

...........I left school with next to no qualifications.........so thats why I went to the pit

its only that I've an interest in a subject and was focused on that subject that i got other qualifications after leaving the pit
The most dificult exam i ever did was in a subject while doing a B. Tec in electrical engineering while still at the pit

But most people can get these degree qualifications its just a matter of being focused and enjoying what you are doing. It dosen't take a smart person to do this. And if you ever get to speak to me you will probably agreee with this statement :D

focus, motivation etc all factor into intelligence...so where's the birdy dance feature in your make up. I would have a though a more focused approach to displaying your displeasure would have had more impact than doing the birdy dance!!!

What a load of ******

I don't know which pit you were at but I never found it that bad underground at the ones I worked in.

It was hellishly hot and the floor lift was incredible but I'd go back down tomorrow if it re-opened. Very satisfying job.

It was attached to the power station in the pit yard - I used to work there.

Would that be like the Coalite plant in Shuttlewood where the old lads who work there blatently admit to stripping things down for the scrap man and the entire areas a polluted **** tip?

He was the only striker to buy a new house during the strike!!!

Totally agree
Disgraceful ****
Never did a day's work in his life - on the same shift as my grandad at Woolley ( I think)
He did 45 years as a miner and i never heard him say one good word about Scargill.
Very very dangerous man

By my reckoning Nudger is right

The whole point is the pronoun doesn't change.
ie
"I am writing a story", would become, "Nudger and I are writing a story"
whereas
"This is a story about me", would become, "This is a story about Nudger and me".
It doesn't become, "This is a story about Nudger and I". That is exactly the same grammatical faux pas as, "Me and Nudger are writing a story" - changing the pronoun.

Nudger title is a contraction of, "This is a post about the miners strike and me". As such I contend that it is grammatically correct.

Insert that in your pipe, ignite and inhale.

I'm confused

Are you writing a story with Nudger, or aren't you?

Nudger and I are not writing a story.

There is no story written by Nudger and me.

I have merely appointed myself as the Grammar Police's Independent Watchdog.

I suppose what I'm saying here .................is.............

.................just because you can act as daft as a brush when you go out............dosen't mean that you are solid between the ears

..........what it does mean is that you are free from retraint to a certain degree. This comes with being your own person.
Thats why I admire people like Celebrity Monkey........because she does what she wants to do and NO ONE can undermine her beleive in herself and what she is doing.

But you have to know your limits and stay clear of the law. Neither me or my brother have a criminal record.
