Female competitors at the Pool World Championship this weekend. Great to see and it's just one tournament for all which in a sport like that (as with snooker) is exactly how it should be. The lady who stormed the Darts last year as well was a great story.

OK then, women will be forever laid less in sport because they aren't big or strong enough to beat the men?
Female gymnasts have very short careers.

Reanne Evans is the forerunner at the moment Not sure if she's in the qualifying rounds this year but has got to the last round previously and gave Ken Doherty a run for his money.

Reanne plays Andy Hicks (World No 69) in the first qualifying round, Helen.

This will be the first year for a while that I'm not going to the Crucible. Postponed our tickets until next year when hopefully the full atmosphere surrounding the event will be back.

Also, Rebecca Kenna (from Keighley) plays Brandon Sargeant (ranked 85).

We've done the same. It just sounds like too much hassle - even though we'd have been guaranteed to see Ronnie as defending champion in session one.

We saw him lift the trophy last year. Very good stewarding. Glad I was there to see him do it. We usually go and have a meal and a walk over to the Winter Gardens. The girls have both got medals from doing the snooker challenges!

Women have for years had the opportunity to compete against the Men on the Men’s tour. I can remember back in the 90’s both Karen Corr and Alison Fisher tried and both struggled.
I played against Karen once at a Pool tournament and had a good chat afterwards, she said the issue they had was getting sponsorship to afford them to give up work to practice etc.
Both of these moved into the Pool scene in America as there was much more money to be had there.
