Aye the ladybirds, forgotten about them. Every car was a red car that year. It was a great summer. The nearest I remember was 1995 when the sun seemed to shine from mid June to early September.
Excessive calcium was the cause - usually caused by the dog eating a lot of bones - now everyone feeds their dog processed dogfood which isnt so calcium rich. Also it only turns white if left to dry out - most dog mess is cleared up fairly quickly these days Boy was that summer hot though I remember it well
White dog **** was white because it was produced with "mineral fillers" such as calcium carbonate ie. made it cheaper to produce. In the 1970s you could draw a hop-scotch game on the corsey with white dog ****, quite easy really. White dog **** is as iconic to the 1970s as a Raleigh Chopper.
Ileft school that year and started my first full-time job at Barnsley Abattoir It was hard work as well. Don't know how I coped considering I'd never previously visited the slaughterhouse itself, just the Cattle Market.
Really funny, Pasta. Not heard the term corsey for ages!!!! I remember now about white dog **** but never questioned it at the time! As a student, I worked in the summer holidays for Naylors pipeworks at Cawthorne, and worked next to the furnace!! If I remember correctly, we had two really hot summers in a row.
