    40 years ago you might have met public sector workers who openly discussed using their 'sick allowance' on top of their holidays. After consistent maulings by the press in the 90's, the typical government employer will now happily sack long term cancer sufferers in order to hit their sickness absence targets.

    So whilst the government is pushing for more sick and disabled people to be active in the workplace, and employers to be more open to employing sick and disabled staff, the government have a heartless attitude to staff absences nowadays.

    Thats awful mate. Sorry to hear. Can admin pin these threads and have a topic on mental health so people can post about it whenever they may feel they need to....

    As for your wife I hope she is feeling better! We need a better system for mental health
