Great video that. One thing absolutely screams out from this: run at modern day full backs and they generally haven't a clue what to do. I really hope he still has this in his locker.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The centre halves are even worse. I realise it's a completely different speed to that at the level I played. I never faced anyone with the pace and skill of Adam Hammill. Some of it is breathtaking, I'd forgotten how good he was. But it's all relative. The forwards I faced when I played as a defender were much slower than Hammill, but I was much slower than the professional central defenders who are coming up against him. I didn't win every challenge I went in for by any stretch of the imagination. Sometimes wingers did skip past me. But my attempts to make a challenge were a **** of a lot better than many on that video, some of which are embarrassing. I'm not sure a lot of professional footballers these days are any good at it. They're big and strong and powerful and fast and they can run all day, but when they come up against someone who can actually play, they haven't a clue what to do.
The lower leagues definitly are, if you are faster and stronger than someone you are far more likely to make it.
