To be fair I think I'd score a few in the italian league, not what it used to be years ago.

Really? City & Liverpool have been destroying teams here for the past few seasons. City’s scored 100+ goals the last two seasons.

Whenever our sides come up against Spanish opposition we nearly always come off second best. Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Bilbao, Sevilla & Villarreal have all knocked English teams out of Europe in recent years, I think even Malaga & Vigo have & Deportivo before they plummeted.

Messi’s record against English teams in Europe is outstanding & he’s regularly played 60+ games a season & travelled all around the world in international breaks to play for his country. I can’t see how playing in England would have slowed him down

Lots of people just assume the Spanish league is poor and ours is better because sky keep telling them we have the best league in the world.
As you say the results in Europe don't seem to support this.
Sheffield United just finished 9th in the premier league.

And they had a chance to finish 5th/6th before dropping off as well at the end

I think people just assume that because our sides throw the most money around that we’re the best.

Everton are a fine example of that.

West Ham as well. Two great examples of how to throw hundreds of millions around & not be any better

And Man c, man u, liverpool and in fact most teams in PL plus the Championship ones who "chase the dream "

Just because you can spend 100s of millions on players doesn't mean you're the best or have the best league in the world

They've not been any good since David Moyes left. Back then, they had little money and he used to get them finishing 5th/6th nearly every year. Now they've basically got an open chequebook and can't even finish above Burnley.
