    The people of the world can indeed be categorised in many ways, geographic and ethnic origins are among these. So why confuse the issue by using geographical terminology to describe racial and cultural characteristics?

    It had occurred to me to introduce the term "Latin American" but we both know what Eastie's reaction to that would have been.

    Mexicans are South Americans.

    So if we discount Geography and which football group they play in

    I'm a bit puzzled what criteria are left to decide that they belong to a continent
    primary definition must be the geographic one which states that Mexico is the most northerly central american country and is in the North American land mass

    You could argue that if they played their qualification in with the south american countries that made them "south American" but they dont so what is left

    option 1 they speak spanish - so do people in Spain and that was in Europe last time I checked
    option 2 - Windy knows everything and has decided that Mexico is in South America - with all the authority of the King who decreed that Pi was 4

    Obviously Windy will come back with the last word on this

    Why are Mexicans South Americans.
    I have given 2 reasons why they are not - you havent given any good reason why they are

    And your cultural argument doesnt wash either - we are culturally closer to Canadians than Rumanians but we are still European not North American
