But in

Foster (£100k), Nytanga (International), Kozluk (top wage earner), Bruma (fit bird), Souza (interpreteur), Werling (Roberto Carlos, without the tackling ability) we've at least attempted to plug the gaps.

Paul Reid will be back week Setdi, I bet you a glass of Moet and a shrimp.

Oh aye - I forgot about him.

He's so small that I didn't see him.

I bet Fuller, Sidebe, Cresswell & Parkin will be shatting themselves when Stoke pay us a visit.

£1.1m on strikers.
£0.1m on defenders.

That makes sense when you have the worst defensive record in the league.

We've tried -

But failed, miserably.

Can any of those six head a ball?
The big, powerful sides are going to cream us - a la Coventry.

We've spent more on Mattis & McCann than we've spent on our incompetent defence.

But at least we've tried - and that's all that will matter in May when we've only got 30 points.

Wing backs dont work

2 solid honest battling banks of 4 please, and that includes full backs who can stop a cross as well as centre backs that can break out of a paper bag. defend from the front, ala Stoke away last season. play your best 11 feighters.

Defend from the front?

I would have liked to see us build from the back.
£200k for Kayo, a young striker on loan from the prem & £1m on two centre halves.

On the other hand - you could put your faith in Paul Reid.

I remember wing backs doing quite well in this division 11 years ago.
However - with Davis, Moses & De Zeeum at the back - we could actually defend a bit.

Aye, but Nicky Eaden and Neil Thompson WERE proper wing backs...aahh, those were the days.

Competition for places

I agree with. picking players just cos they havent had a run out for a bit is managerial suicide. I honestly think we have a much better squad than last year, including defensively, but the manager needs to get straight in his mind which are the best 11 and play them consecutive weeks. Foster is a more able replacement for Reid, Nytanga plays better in a back 4...there, I've started him off.

Stoke away in 3 weeks.

Foster & Nyatanga v Fuller & Sidebe (with Cresswell & Parkin waiting in the wings).
We're going to get battered.
If I were a decent striker - my eyes would light up when I saw our central defenders.

I'm all for competition for places - but **** competition is just that - ****.
Our defence is small and weak.

Like your ****.

We have no money for centre halves cos we're in competition with other clubs for their services.

RE: Jamal Campbell Ryce

In the run-in last season we had up to 9 players in the side who were regulars under the previous regime.
Look at the 2-0 win against Palace, for instance.
Our team was:
Colgan, Austin, Reid, Kay, Hecky, Devaney, Togwell, Howard, K Reid, Nardy & Ferenczi.
Only Kyel Reid & Istvan Ferenczi weren't playing for Ritchie.

Now look at the line up for Setdi:
Muller, Nyatanga, Foster, Souza, Kozluk, Johnson, De Silva, Howard, Werling, Odejayi & Ferenczi.
(McCann, Christensen, Ricketts, Colgan & Mostto on the bench)
Only Bri & Istvan survive.
Only Howard left from Ritchie era.

Colgan out.
Howard out.

Job done.

By the way - the team at the top beats the team at the bottom, even if it does contain Paul Reid.

I think we should write to the Football League and insist that they apply Paul Reid Weighting to our end of season points tally. Every appearance = +1 point, bonus point per head-stoop.

You're missing the point.

Bigger squad naturally = better squad.
