I don't think anyone can blame him for leaving after it became clear that our Head Coach this season would have a considerably weaker squad than the season before. Plus, he'd have endure last nights cringefest four times a year.
I can blame him for the things he chose to say though, including straight out lying. Trust is so vitally important to me, and bottom line is his choice of words and actions broke that trust.
I think when he said what he said he genuinely meant it. But then when he saw the writing on the wall regarding player sales and replacements, he thought fck this. Put it this way, if I'm working underneath Khaled - then my opinion would change too.
Surely this is the end of his long haul selling point to next set of supporters, at least he can have a nice Christmas in his beloved Cheltenham.
People keep saying about Lincoln and Wycombe that we did better against them this season. We'll we dropped points at home to Fleetwood and got outplayed and beat at home to Oxford and pompey how did we go on in those games last year. Its swings and roundabouts.
I agree if he did well he'd be off after the first offer.. Rotherham maybe or too far.. 10 mile closer than Barnsley
The fans hate the style of football, they're deluded after their short time in the sun, they think their "brand" of football is Brazil circa 1970.
I think another manager was sacked for similar not too long ago as well. Bizarre why they appointed him in the first place.
I thought he’d got through the initial rocky patch after the shocking start to the season. I guess not. Seems a bit harsh at this stage but seemed a strange move in the first place in all honesty. I think he may have to be scouting around league 1 clubs for his next job.
Fair dos. I don't have anything personally against Michael Duff, I genuinely don't. But I do hold people accountable for their words and actions. I actually find it insulting when managers come out with some of the b0llocks they do. My demands are really very simple. All I want them to do is stick to getting football results. I don't want to hear pledges of loyalty, because it means absolutely nothing. We know it, they know it. If a manager does well here, they will leave for a bigger job at the first chance. I accept that. So please, just spare us the spiel.
I suppose a lot of the time they get put in this position either by the club or by questions asked by local journalists etc. Finding an answer that is going to please everyone and doesn't come across as though you'll jump at the first opportunity must be nigh on impossible.
Side note, Neill Collins is the second longest serving Manager/Head Coach in South Yorkshire (after Grant McCann at Doncaster).
People saying duff left because he knew players would be sold? He said after the play off final "we know players will leave but we dust our self's down and go again" it's football we are barnsley we knew mads would be sold. We knew Thomas would go back to Burnley and we knew if a 5 million pound off came for kitch we would be mad to refuse it. End of the day duff went for the money and his stock was high at the time.
