Unfortunately, we just fell short of that goal, but I will remember that day for a very long time. “This decision was not money-orientated. The board at Barnsley did everything in their power to make me commit to the club on an extended contract, but I am an ambitious character and after taking stock in the summer felt that this opportunity was the next natural step in my career. “I reflect on my time with Barnsley positively and would like to think I left it in a better place than when I found it. Once again, I would like to thank the fans for their incredible support, which I’m sure will continue as the club looks to progress and kick on. Thank you. You Reds.” Doesn't seem to be any bad blood there.
It's beyond barmy if he's not been sounded out. If he doesn't wanna come, fair enough, but he'd be the first one I'd be ringing. No better option available imho.

TBF, Swansea are a bit like Plymouth and Carlisle - a smallish city with only 1-2 teams within a 100 mile trip. Their attendances will always be lower in the same division than a club from the Midlands or London.
That needs to be balanced out with the number of other clubs in the area people can go and watch. I'm guessing we have more league clubs within a 30 mile radius than there are in the whole of Wales. Although the population of South and West Yorkshire is probably comparable. Swansea also have the disadvantage that they're primarily in a rugby area. Lots of local factors at play. But if you live in Swansea and like football, you've not got a huge amount of choice about who you go and watch.
Swansea have never been a "way bigger" team than Barnsley. There's been times when they've been below us in the football pyramid and others when they've had a period in the top flight. But they certainly have much higher expectations as a fan base.
It would be seriously remiss not to ask him the question. He might not fancy it. We might decide against but 100% we should have the conversation
