The only thing Duff's done wrong here is to state what he thinks publicly. He's just been undiplomatic that's all. That's why it leaves a sour taste for some I suspect. As to what he's said, when looking at it dispassionately I think he's right about firesales. We've been doing it noticeably excessively ever since Conway's lot took over and many on here, including myself are fed up with it. As regards to the ambition bit I think he's wrong. Barnsley owners do have ambition but they've run the club so incompetently particularly with regard to recruitment (overall, not all the time) that they've had to put their own money in more than they would have liked. The club has declined, as some have said, over the last 5 years or so but hopefully, hopefully, the board are realising that to feed ambition you have to try harder to get quality in and not be so keen to make a short - term quick buck on a decent player (or indeed, manager). If they're learning and improving I can cut them some slack even though I'm still not convinced by them.
Not sure he ‘failed’ at Swansea either. They were only a few points off mid table when he went. Fans forced him out because they’ve got this bizarre belief that Swansea have to play Guardiola football.
I would have thought that when the udders offer came in he honestly thought they are more set up (not guaranteed) for a good season than we are..

A couple of things: I think Duff needs to learn the true meaning of the phrase "fire sale" and I think he's spinning the fact that Huddersfield are unable to get rid of some of their high earners As we have already learned first hand - his rhetoric is a poor second to his ability as a football coach.
