    What do you expect?

    A) He's a Tory
    B) He's a Berk
    C) He has spent public money sending Bibles to all school pupils

The answer is simple, make sure you and anyone you know does not vote for these cretins next time. Even if you can't face voting Labour, spoli your paper.

He is my least favourite politician ever. Total numpty. Sanctioned the abolishment of School Sports Partnerships, which were doing great things for after school sport links to clubs etc. Got rid of the lot.

Then realises there's no one coordinating after school sport ... So comes up with an idea that we need more competitive sport in school. Bonkers.
Classic case of, "that was a labour thing we'll get rid of it...... Oh hang on, let's do something very similar, half as effective but call it our own."

I wouldn't even bother. There's always someone who chucks out the same old nonsense. Bet they've never been in a classroom, or spent their evenings, weekends and holidays planning, marking etc.

I'm not a teacher. I trained as one. I thank my lucky stars I chose a different path, because I don't think I'd have coped with the demands, or the constant crap that people spout without knowing what it's like. People see one poor teacher and think it gives them the right to slag off the whole profession.

Popular within the Cons though. Even rumoured to be front runner as a future leader of the Conservatives and hence, in their minds at least, a future Prime Minister. If that happens I might be tempted to join a shooting club, get my hands on a sniper rifle, a copy of V for Vendetta and take up anarchy for a living!! That said I would probably be at the back of a very long queue after that numpty had been in charge for several months! Rarely have I been so incensed by a politician as I usually let it all wash over me given that most of them are a complete waste of time and space.

I'm about to start marking for another couple of hours after I've washed up... I often wonder whether it would be better to work more hours in a less stressful job as if you tot up all the hours you do I don't imagine it's that well paid.

I wouldn't swap your 6 weeks holidays & half terms for my 28 days ever. It's too easy to say "holidays". Only the people who don't know what they're on about say that.

Ask any wife/ husband/ mum/ dad/ daughter / son/ if the teacher in their family is at home with their feet up. Answer. No.

To be honest I felt a bit like I was "outing" myself typing that I was a teacher which is pretty bizarre but, like social workers, we seem to be panned in the media all the time, or by people who think we steal a living or who had a crap time at school and then there's having to check your grammar with the police here :)

    Encore.

The place children spend most after their homes is school (edit: probably even more time actually!). Parents send them there knowing teachers will not only educate them, but help round them into better human beings.

So you'd think parents would do everything within reason to support teachers pay and ability to teach their own children in the best possible circumstances. Yet some parents still castigate teachers for a whole load of half baked government reasons as to why they should accept lower pay/conditions. The question is, what kind of parent thinks like this? Why do this to the cost of your own children's education?

The answer is that successive governments have spent years turning people on each other, and to good effect. You might think workers seeing others rights and pay slowly eroded would support them, knowing they might be next. But no, so good is the media spin and propaganda that people are often heard saying,

"Well I dont get x,y,z, so why should they?"

Rince and repeat. The end result is race to the bottom of the barrell which neatly makes the governments policy possible. Everyone suffers because everyone looks out for themselves whilst not realising they are doing so to the detriment of their own position. To point this out is of course the job of extreme left wing agitators who are just bruising for a strike because the spiteful teachers want more money to fund their 6 week cruise in the Med.

    ps Im not a teacher.

Some parents need to look at the job they do with their kids- some kids feel safer in the school environment.
The thing that annoys me about Gove are the stats he keeps quoting how about how far we are down the league tables compared to the rest of the world - these stats have been discredited - we are in the top ten in most subjects at primary and secondary . A little apology wouldn't go a miss

Michael Gove's wife seems to regard him as an incompetent buffoon in the Times.

I'll speak up for Gove here, only a handful of teachers have ever been sacked for incompetence, this situation can't be allowed to carry on because it affects our future and our children's future, some of the teachers I had, namely the ones who told you at the beginning of the class to read a chapter from a textbook and condense it to 3 pages and then spent the rest of the lesson doing their nails should get the sack, they're only there for the pension and because no-one else would employ them.

There's a good reason only a handful of teachers have ever been sacked for incompetence. That's because teachers today are generally very good and are much better educated and better trained than they were in the so called and mythical Golden Age of Education in the 50-60s which I had the misfortune to be educated in. Very few of the people who taught me were graduates and most where qualified to no more than HNC level. Quite a lot of my teachers were were emergency trained after the War.

I think teachers today do a very difficult job under very stressful conditions. They are educating children for the future but we don't really know what that future is or what education will be needed to function in 10,20, or 30 years down the line. Gove just looks backwards to the education system he went through a system which failed me and 90% of the population.

As for Gove he can't even define "Rigour" a word he keeps harping on about. He is an intelligent man but he himself has had a very narrow limited education and the education system he seeks is one reeking of Tory dogma.
