Some real bitterness on here. Morgan's sending off against Owen was deserved - Morgan was a dirty ******* doing his usual. Don't get me wrong Willard was out of his depth and lost that match altogether, but watch the Owen versus Morgan incident again...

As for stealing a wage: so many on here wouldn't take money to try and keep their career going at the highest level? I genuinely think that he wanted to keep playing, wanted to play top flight, believed in his ability to come back - he just didn't want to let it go. He's one of the first players I've heard of to agree to a pay as you play contract. He could easily have dropped down into the championship for a million a year plus signing bonus.

For me he was absolutely exceptional, a great poacher in the box, superb at getting in front of his man, and in his early days his pace was so blistering nobody could play an off side trap against him. Exciting, world class, terribly blighted by injury for his final years.

 

I disagree, he was a limited type of striker - quick dribbler, no vision, no passing, no strength, so whilst his attributes certainly made him a good England striker he was never going to be one of the best in the world, fit or not.

 

Yes Hemsie, I remember telling you all about that when you wanted Danny Rose to start every match. I didn't put it quite like that, but I'm glad you were paying attention.
