RE: That quotes figures for everyone else bar him. he could have donated 10p for all we know

We have no idea what he donated, but you chose to suggest 10p, why?

Exactly - let's get Billy Connelly back on...

Don't have a problem with Darren Gough, Dicky Bird, Geoff Boycott, or anybody else from Barnsley who goes on to do great things for themselves - good luck to them, they reflect well on the town and good for them. But 'Parky' (darling) is a complete user of the club - a parasite. There are two contexts under which 'Parky' will use Barnsley:

Barnsley get to Wembley/Cardiff or promotion to Premier League - 'Parky' gets on the news to talk about the old days and how real his roots are as a Barnsley lad.

'Parky' gets a guest on who is Northern or has a working class background (usually Jimmy Tarbuck). Parky wheels out Barnsley F.C. as his club and talks about the old days and how real his roots are.

I see 'Parky' as a glory supporter who is only interested in using the club to advance himself. He has made an awful lot of money, but at our hardest times when most of us wished we had the resources to make a decent donation - 'Parky' was no where to be seen (but reappeared mysteriously at Cardiff). He also indulges the patronising London press who want to portray Barnsley as a flat cap and whippets South Yorkshire town that struggles with new ideas and has a 'good little football club'. Stick it up your arse Parkinson. Stick it up your arse.

He could have or it could have been £1 million. I reckon we're

both wrong and it's somewhere in between. I also reckon it would have been more than either you or me donated. Don't know the guy, but don't see the point in knocking someone just for the sake of it.

Well I disagree. Not much point in arguing over it.

If he donated anything at all I'll apologise for saying he didn't. Still don't like him though. l

I have a burning resentment of the patronising media image of Barnsley being a flat cap and whippets kind of club. It doesn't suit Parkinson to portray Barnsley as anything else and for many years he has been as much to blame for continuing the old fashioned image of BFC as it was twenty years ago. He makes great mileage out of indulging that image for the London media. Don't expect to see him next year if we go down.

    Not knocking him....

my point was, we don't know what he donated.

But the press are really good at making someone look good (or bad) when they feel like it.

This guy could have put thousands in, but then again, he could have put in next to nowt, we don't know.

But was just pointing out that it menioned the other donations in decending order, so it could indicate he did do less than 2.5K. (just reading something that probably isn't there), but still it could have been more.

Who Knows, and whos business it is anyway is anyones guess.

    But....

Parkinson and a certain dicky Bird won't be there on a wet freezing Tuesday night supporting there "home town" club will they!

I agree with your sentiments but I don't care what they think.

Just makes them appear stupid in my eyes.

Theres a good chance Dickie will be there, I'd think he's been to more games than you.

You'd be a bigger draw than Patrick Kielty

Thats for sure. You know that barrell bottoms have been scraped clean when you have to rely on PK being a guest.

to assume makes an ass of u and me....

and I won't debate how many games dickie or parky have attended if thats ok. but only fair to say my attendance is

in the last 24 years I have only missed one season (due to the strike and my dad couldn't afford to take me), and have been a season ticket holder for the last 10 (ie before the prem promotion), and couldn't tell you how many away games I have been to as I haven't been in the habit of keeping all the stubbs.

If you can tell me how many dickie or parky have been to, then when I reach there age, if anyone is so sad to remember at that time, we will then compare.

you will then be in a position to raise that as a fair comment

RE: Exactly - let's get Billy Connelly back on...

Darren Gough is a life long Spurs fan and lives down south (doubt he'll return to Monk Bretton or Barnsley after his cricket career is over) and Geoff Boycott is a Wakefield lad (Fitzwilliam).

Without a shadow of a doubt the true gents and ambassadors of Barnsley are Dickie Bird and the late great Charlie Williams. Both Barnsley through and through and proud of the town.

I'm not going to comment on Parky, its fair to say he only ever goes to the HUGE matches, Dickie Bird on the other hand is a season ticket holder, has been for many years and gets to as many as he can and has done throughout his life. I don't suppose he got to go to many games while he was an international Cricket umpire, but then you have to make some exceptions.

ok, think we are settling on something here....

I maybe shouldn't have brought dickie into what I was saying earlier, and that was a mistake to say that.

but if I rephrased it just to say

"wonder if parky will be there on a freezing tuesday night",

and make no reference to dickie, would that be a fair comment
