I agree with that Kev. Makes you think think how things would be if some of the power was given over to fans as some as some are suggesting. :)

Fair enough some on here may have backed Mellon, but I clearly remember the majority view was against him, especially after the Yeovil shambles. He has gone on to do well at Shrewsbury, as has Lawrence, but neither were that well thought of here at Barnsley. Mellon was occasionally mentioned on here a a possible appointment and the majority wanted someone fresh, with particular interest in Danny Wilson. With hindsight, perhaps Mellon would have done better. But at the time it would have gone down badly and I would imagine he'd have got a lot more stick than Wilson recieved had results gone array.

I suppose it would depend on which fans would be given that power. For example, I'd still be selecting Pat Howard, Mick Butler & Ronnie Glavin in the first team!:D

    I would second that. :)

I know we are dwelling on melon but another little thing sticks in my mind about him. I went down on open day and the team were working on defending corners. Melon was in the area like a blue arsed flea positioning players and giving instruction. Flicker was sat at the corner flag with the ball waiting to get the ball over, he punted a few balls over which were **** balls and they had to keep starting over. Flicker was having no input whatsoever. :)

Being serious now. I'm of the opinion that whoever is to be brought in as our new manager, for the greater good, folk really need to get behind the guy even if he isn't their personal preference. That applies to the boardroom 'suits', playing staff, coaches and ALL the fans. Until we get to that stage, the chances of the club moving in the right direction, and being seen to be moving in the right direction, is extremely small. Irrespective of whether people backed Wilson or not, no one can deny our club is now totally divided. In my view, until this is resolved, the only way we'll go is down.
