two or three from what i can remember. He out fought them out muscled them held the ball up and linked play ultimatley scoring the winner, his finest hour at oakwell.
I can remember at least 2 chances he had Apart from the goal. He had one shot blocked from the keeper from a widish angle (although he probably should have shot earlier), and he also came close to scoring after he changed down an attempted clearance from the keeper. On 2nd thoughts, perhaps that doesn't count as a shot, but it was a chance he made for himself. The game really was his finest hour, but that just makes him all the more frustrating as we could see what he is capable of. His record is simply not good enough even to get on our bench.
Depends We don't know what he was like on the training pitch, how settled over here he was, how good he was coming on with his English etc. His reserve team scoring record wasn't great either. No point giving someone a chance for the sake of it.
Don't Agree It depends on the other strikers who are getting games. All the time he was here we never really had anyone who stood out as much better than hin (apart from perhaps Macken). If we had had Rooney and Berbatov up front, scoring regularly, I would have accepted Miguel being on the bench. But the lads in the team weren't doing the business, so for £400k he should have been given more of a chance. At best he may have come good, at worst he may have at least put a few bob on his price. Anyway good luck to him whatever happens.
Good luck Miguel Wish the guy was given a chnace but it wasnt to be, must have been hard for him being thousands of miles from home and the problems he as had, hope he does well with his new club
RE: According to the Star today it was £200k Agree with Spartacus and SM here. When a transfer fee is announced, it is always the amount the club could end up paying if all the various clauses are met - usually a set number of appearances and goals, achieving promotion and/or international call up etc. We have probably only paid Cienciano half the £400,000 stated due to his lack of games/goals. The same scenarios probably existed with Shipperley's £700,000 fee, except that we probably had to cough up the vast majority of that one as he did produce the goods. On the other hand, we will have received nowhere near the £1M negotiated for Scott Flinders.
RE: Good luck Miguel Hi everyone, Miguel Mostto is moving to Total Chalaco a new club in Peru but there were a couple of more clubs trying to get Mostto .I knew he wasn't going to last in Barnsley because in Peru he was just an average striker that had a good year. I wonder if you guys know how much was he getting pay in Barnsley because he had to take a big paycut to move to Peru because he is probably getting pay between $12000- $16000.
