Just for the record, I'm not pro or anti Phelan (as I've already stated), I was just pointing out I disagreed with your comments.

There was a spell, and I can't remember when, that United struggled. It was when the backroom team was its most unsettled. I think after Queiroz (sp) left for Madrid, but then came back after being sacked.

Fine in principle and I wish we could achieve that.

But the problem is, if we are **** next season, and he stays, and we are **** the season after and he stays, how long do we give it before we realise that he will never be anything other than ****. How do you square that circle? The reality is that you can't - 1 full season of **** and you assume he was the wrong man and round we go again. It's just the way it works.

The one thing we definitely need to do though is to ensure that everyone knows he stays if we go down, whoever it is, because it won't be the new man's fault if we go down - we are dangling our legs through the trap door already. I can already hear the hard of thinking saying at the end of the season "he's got to go, he's ****, he's had plenty of time to turn it around....."

Completely agree. I was just debating his credentials. Not arguing that he was going to be the saviour.

If appointed I'd be freely happy, if not appointed I wouldn't be thinking we'd missed an opportunity.

Loko,I don't take disagreement personally,Like you I'm not anti Mike Phelan..on a personal level..certainly not, I don't know the man, although I have to say his latest revelations in the media claiming he picked the team and not Fergie do suggest he may not be a modest man and equally if he wishes to claim credit for their victories you could also say Man U haven't won the Champions League since the days when Fergie picked the team.
