How does this poster continuously get away with posting inflammatory and disgusting remarks like this?

If he was a Millwall fan would there be as much sympathy?

Daniel Dix, aged 31, of Fenton Way, Greasbrough, Rotherham, pleaded guilty to a public order offence and was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, 100 hours of community service and £200 costs.

The court heard the eight men boarded a Metropolitan line train at Baker Street station heading towards King’s Cross after the match and became rowdy and started chanting.

As the train arrived at King’s Cross, a fight broke out between the group and other supporters which spilled on to the platform.

During the brawl, bottles were thrown at the train and passengers were threatened with violence

Well this is a controversial post isn't it! I can see Supertykes point in that the deceased was no Angel and as such doesn't deserve the hero status he appears to be given by some. Had it been one of the rampaging Miwwwaaaww scrum who had met the same fate whilst charging at our innocent families at Wembley I doubt very much that he would have received any sympathy on here. Also, the OP has expressed sympathy towards the deceased man's family at the time of their loss for which he shouldn't be decried. However I think the reason that people are upset with him is that however someone meets their untimely end is there any need for anyone to pour salt in the wounds. Was the post really necessary? I don't think it was and feel it is an unsavoury wind up attempt on the OPs behalf. It's obviously working, just look at the response, including my own and whilst not agreeing with the OPs opinion he is entitled to one. The questions he should ask himself are ,
    1. Why has he posted this in the first place?
    2. Is it in good taste ?
    3. Will it cause further pain to the victim's family?
    4. Was it really necessary?
If the OP answers no to 2 or 4 or yes to 3 then he should have the decency to remove the post himself .
I wouldn't like all Barnsley fans to be judged on Supertyke's views though.
Also there is an ignore button.

I am a convicted football hooligan as I mentioned in a previous thread. I was totally innocent and had witnesses to support my claim but was still convicted. Should I be tarred with the same brush?
Do you have any sympathy for the miners convicted at Orgreave etc or were they also hooligans who should be shown no mercy for their disgusting behaviour towards the government and police?
There are 2 sides to every story and whilst your opinion of Danny Dix may have credence is there any need to post them on here.
Just be careful with what you wish for

Aren't we all getting a bit carried away on this thread?

If that is SuperTyke's opinion that his opinion. Whilst there is an argument that it didn't need saying, I would also accept the point that if you think little of someone their passing shouldn't re-write history in that respect.

Does it need debating ad infinitum?

Can we not just say that we disagree and move on?

Seems that this thread has become more about posturing on who is more outrageous.

I have to agree , you have said it how I see it , what people who are defending this person are doing, does no favours for BFC or us the fans ,we do not want to be associated with hooliganism its as had its day and those morons who continue causing trouble at games or away from the grounds do us no favours , we have already suffered from our reputation in terms of some clubs restricting the number of tickets allocated and from stricter measures taken by police at some away grounds with regard to stopping off en route and times etc , the really galling thing about this is that some defending this person ,glorify in this shitty reputation we have for causing trouble .

Whilst that is not something to be proud of (and I believe you regarding your innocence), it is ludicrous that you should be compared to a multiple paedophile, as one poster did.

For the record I am totally opposed to hooliganism and any form of violence whether it be at a football match or any other place and I am also ashamed and embarrassed by the behaviour of a minority of our following especially away from home. The reason for my reply to Supertyke was because I thought the thread was contentious and.
COYR!!! I didn't agree with his opinion and wished to provoke further reasonable debate on the matter. Perhaps we should all accept that people have widely differing views and that neither are right, wrong, or both.
    Time to move on

I made the original post after seeing the flower tribute in Rotherham, close to where this assault took place, that would later claim this fella's life. A tree was bedecked in flowers and Millers shirts & memorabilia.
I asked passers by what had happened. He was a Rov fan & season ticket holder, who took his son to games. That's all I know. Didn't look further except for the Star article, which I posted.
I have no police records whatsoever, but it's still not my place to judge anyone, in such circumstances.
I've been following football long enough to understand how peer pressure sweeps kids into trouble. I've known a few, now completely respectable citizens and parents.
I wouldn't have posted about this if I'd known what crap would follow. Imagine if this got back to his friends or family.
Maybe someone should trawl through the personal history of certain

Is the posturing comment aimed at me?
I would hope not as I'm still embarrassed by it 40 years on and it's certainly not something I have ever bragged about. If I had done what I was proved guilty of then I might have been! I would have been a one man firm, and for anyone that knows me, it wouldn't have been bad for a little lad

May I suggest Supertyke visits the tribute site in Rotherham and get a more rounded picture of the fella in question..?
He's quite within his rights to vent his opinion there, as well as here...;)
