I am overwhelmed by the number of responses. I had no idea that Minority Report was so popular. I debated long and hard before I posted my opening message. I knew that it would go against the spirit of a message board, but because I had not expected this number of positive responses, I did not think that it would matter. I have not posted on the open message board for 18 months, but during that time, I continued to read and I would send the occasional personal message as well as posting Minority Report for a very small readership. I have no problem with those who disagree with me, after all, my opinion is just that, an opinion. However, there were certain aspects of the BBS that I hated. I can see that the character of the postings on the BBS has not changed. It is still very abusive and still relies heavily upon personal insult. This is not debate, although many think that it is. It is the reason I stopped posting. The number of responses in this thread has ruled out the use of the Personal Messaging System. It limits the number of participants in any conversation to 5 plus the opening poster. Minority Report will therefore be returning to the main section of the BBS.
I enjoy reading everybody’s opinion of BFC and games and enjoy posting mine or for and against others opinions . If the abuse is intolerable as you say just do what most do and ignore but remember disagreement is not always abuse.
Great decision Red Rain. Anyone who doesn't value your contributions can either say so , or choose not to read your reports. They prompt discussion and so long as any comments are not vindictive, as some have already said, on a fans forum exchanging differing opinions is what it's all about.
Well done bulletin board posters and RR. Always appreciated the thoughtfulness of your reports and welcome being able to read them again. Hope that the support you have on the board will overcome some of the minority negative responders.
Very good. That's improved the BBS no end. I miss sharing my own opinions on the team/players, but for obvious reasons, I can't. So whilst I didn't always agree with your thoughts, I appreciated them, mainly because you'd go into fine detail and explain your points thoroughly. Occasionally when reading/hearing the views of others, it can give you a new look on things. We've lost quite a few posters who gave in-depth summary on things, or they post very rarely. Not everyone's cup of tea, but - naturally - I'm a big fan of 'fans' sharing their thoughts in different ways. I used blogs, podcasts, youtube etc myself as a hobby years ago, and I love that we've Tykes TV to watch these days. They're very raw and straight to the point, not everyone's a fan. But it takes ******** to put yourself out there and they go to 46 games a season so they're qualified. And CraigIsRed is also a quality little channel. Clever lad, knows his onions. More the merrier.
That is good news. As others have said I've not always agreed with the analysis, but have enjoyed reading another point of view.
Welcome home Red Rain. I always loved your match reports. At the end of the day, there are paid professional journalists/sports reporters who write match reports that leave you wondering if they were even at the actual game on which they are reporting as they are so wide of the mark. You write it as you see it through your own eyes. You never state, with arrogance 'this is how it was...', but more along the lines of 'this is how I saw it...'. You might call yourself RED Rain, but I look forward to your write ups more than I used to look forward to Colin appearing on Wombwell High Street selling his GREEN'UN on a Saturday tea time.
Good to hear. This forum lives on debate, id throw in to the mix that means being prepared to have your opinion challenged. Something I found once you’d stated yours that you weren’t prepared to do, and considered that anyone who did so was abusing you. I get it, you honestly believe what you wrote but conciliatory behaviour happens as a 2 way thing Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Personal abuse on here is not particularly difficult to spot. Sadly. But it should be. Because it ought to be removed. But often it isn't. But some do indeed perceive personal abuse where there is none. We all show our character on here, and in particular our flaws. Everyone can see them, even if we can't see them ourselves. Flaws such as for example believing that we are passing on knowledge, rather than mere opinion.
Great news I must admit I don't always agree with your assessments but its good to get a range of views - I will try and keep an eye on the threads and if anyone starts getting abusive as opposed to posting an opposing view will try and stop it Welcome back
