But the difference in your analogy is you knew what the brief was but with him we are all guessing at his brief.

Our struggles this season haven’t solely been down to who we signed or didn’t sign. We’ve had experienced players, who have done well in the past, playing way below the level they are capable of. This points to problems with the coaching or the players themselves. We have a squad that should be doing much better than they did, as shown by sticking 4 past Bolton and Reading. Had the coaching/players have done the job to their full capabilities we would likely have been top 6 and looking at the January transfer window as a success because we didn’t lose any of our best players.

And with regard to Mladen “dictating the way we play”, this is nonsense. The board have identified the style they think will bring us success and have tried to bring in head coaches with the same philosophy. If people think the board/Mladen are out of order for recruiting head coaches this way, then they need to take another look at Patrick Cryne’s tenure, because he did exactly the same. And what is it they all said they were striving for? A high press, fast moving, attacking football? That sounds alright for me.

I doubt it was "spaff a load of cash up the wall on substandard players who make us worse"

I think it's more to do with the fact during the Jan, transfer window. We were still in with a chance of making the playoffs at least. The players we brought in (Bar Gauci) were probably panic signings to try satisfy the fans. And ended up being a waste of wages.
We have to get this close season right. Jan. may have not even been Mladens fault. (Given a budget to work to) Clarke was on the phone to America for what?, a player who played less minutes than even Rodriguez.
But yet again as in the previous season with Williams. relying on Earl to fill in at full back. As neither Cotter or O'keefe are the best at defending. Both better going forward. Certainly Cotter.
442 or 4312 were imo way the best formations. As the defence knew more of what there role should be and not relying on others to totally back em up.
What is the purpose of a sporting director I need to know. We have analysts. a ceo. And Conor to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Mladen will not be leaving anytime soon. But he and Conor will have to get their finger out to get decent players in. To replace the ones leaving. (The board have to back em.) But in general we still have a decent squad that can all play, on their day. and need to hold on to some. With the likes of Shepherd. Lopata and Yoganathan all coming back with better cv's and reports, than before we loaned em out. A goalie has to be another priority.

So you know he had a load of cash then or are guessing?
How much was this “load of cash”?
How do you know his budget was not low and he told them after looking who and what he could get for that and the board said it was fine (or the coach)?

Again the answer is we don’t

I'm surprised he has some people backing him up, he quite clearly lacks the understanding of how to do the job he was hired to do, the January window brought it all into stark relief, he didn't drop the ball, he simply couldn't find the ball in the first place, he then set up a mockery of an interview to try and rationalise his thought process on transfers and the transfer market and quite clearly came up shorter than Ronnie Corbett's shorts.
I fear for the next window with this chap in charge of incoming players.

I dislike him because he is a waste of salary which could be spent on a decent play, and he should not be choosing the players that walk through the door its the managers job, and he isn't honest or should I say a liar, telling fans things as though fans are stupid. Sormaz drop your keys off at the office and go.

Totally agree and the financial restrictions that Mladen works under make his January performance even worse.
When you factor in flights, accommodation, agents fees, wages etc the 2 players brought in from abroad will have cost a few hundred thousand which was totally thrown away and restricted the opportunity's for players already under contract.

Clarke even stated he knew nothing about Rodriguez...which shows he had no involvement

On a personal level I think he's an utter coward for his refusal to face the media following our shocking January transfer window and I think he's a liar for his claims regarding players positioning etc which were blatantly false.

On a business level I think he has been an abject failure on all fronts. Made awful signings and pulled the wool over our owner into believing whatever rubbish he spouted about how good the players were to cover up for his failures.

Combine the two and I can see why people refuse to hand over their hard earned cash to a club that has him in a very key position.

There's nothing wrong with being positive and hopeful for the future but defending Sormaz is a step too far. Its beyond the pale. Its a red herring, a green herring and a pink haddock.
This topic has been done to death numerous times. I've stated my position often. Sormaz is no good for various reasons and he hides by sacking coaches.
Unless he comes clean, says 'I got that wrong' and stops hiding I'll stick with my opinion.
He's not killed anyone or invaded Gaza or Ukraine I grant you but cutting him slack is like saying Hitler didn't know very much about the holocaust.

I can't see anything I've said where I've defended Sormaz. All I've said is I'm prepared to give him a bit more time considering he's only been here about 14 months.I even said if the summer window is poor his positon should be reassessed.

He's been here too long already mate. We'll have to disagree. If Conor does well Sormaz will bask in the glory. If Conor does badly then Conor will be sacked and Sormaz will hide again. He can't lose until the owner comes to his senses

In which time 2 permanent head coaches have become casualties because they couldn't apparently implement the desired style of play, 1 of which had almost won as many home games in 15 attempts than we have done in the following 32 attempts since Mladen's appointment.

He has been at the club 15 months and managed 8 home wins, 8!!!! Just let that sink in and then reflect on his loan signings and the absolute cluster**** of the last 2 windows leaving 1 head coach on a zoom call trying to sign an unfit winger from the MLS through shear desperation.
15 months in football is a long time, it's a results business.
