Which spread sheet do you think Marc Roberts stats shone up on who had hardly played before coming here. Or watters or Cosgrove, nwakali etc
Roberts, okeefe, Earl, Humphrys, DKD, Phillips, Cosgrove, Russell, Watters, and Connell & Benson after games with us. All plenty of games in EFL. Nwakali, Pines, Ferrugia all played plenty games at decent levels. What's the types of punts you don't want us trying? So you mean the Shepherds, Lopatas and Dallas' who cost next to nowt and actually, we'd certainly make a profit and the 2 defenders there
Just not sure how you think it's similar? I know you wasn't a fan of the crynes if I remember right. But under the crynes. We wouldn't sign players over 24, now we sign loads to the point we signed 2 players over 34. We wouldn't sign players released/not wantedby other clubs we have now we have done this and are looking to sign free agents I've heard on good authority we are looking at the likes of roofe, waghorn etc that would never happen before. We would use stats to identify players like, conor top assits in league 2 winnall top scorer league 2, Watkins sure his assists were high in Scotland. Like said not sure which stats watters, Russell, Gent, Cosgrove, Humphrys etc pinged up.on the spreadsheet with. Maybe earl most pens conceded in a season. I just find it hard to make any similarities between the 2 recruitment strategies.
I don't mean the entire strategy. I mean the youth inexperienced side of it. I'm sure the attempting to unearth some raw gems side hasn't changed much. We do seem to have more of the older side as well but I'm talking specifically about the younger punts, I think the strategy there hasn't changed a lot
We have plenty of experience which imo you don't need a massive amount of it to get out of this league. Our best recruitment was younger hungry players unfortunately many other clubs went down the same route and we started.signing goalkeepers who got relegated to non League and 34 year old who have hardly played for 2 seasons.
Pines is appalling, Farrugia too early, Nwakali very inconsistent. Shaw Dallas Lofthouse Gent Slonina Craig Smith Lopata McCart McCarthy Dudgson Grant Josh Martin Tedic Cundy Searle Larkeche What impact have those players to name a few had, that's 17players that have been a complete waste, that before we start with the under performing gambles, I mean Max watters must be the only player I can recall having a poor loan getting a 3 year deal off the back. Some were loan players but that still involves a loan fee and some wages, whilst blocking the pathway for our academy. It's a complete mess of a recruitment strategy, we've 2/3 players who could command any type of decent transfer fee, Connell, Phillips and DKD.
For a laugh, make a better first eleven from them and our current team,I'll start Gauci O'keefe. Mdg. Shepherd. Lopata. Farrugia Nwakali Connell. Phillips DKD Humphreys. Dallas
Hmm, I think you’re mixing up your timelines - under Patrick Crynes ownership we very Much signed players 30+. It’s only when that American carpet bagger twunt came in did it become verboten
Nope your wrong mate when we went down from the championship we did then he got sick of signing players over 30 for there final paydays. Wilson wasn't too happy and cryne agreed he could bring in a few older experienced players (lita turnbull and Keith treacy) When Wilson left we were pretty strict with the under 25 policy. I even spoke to a ex player on holiday who told me Ben mansford tried getting him in but cryne knocked it back as he was over 25 and mansford wasn't too happy.
Lots need to go. Why pay Hassell to be Academy Manager, a job that the DoF/ Sporting Director should cover. Devaney has been a constant, time for change I think. Stead?? bye. The only ones I would have kept, medical and fitness team have gone anyway. Too many staff for a poor team and an academy which isn't producing players for league 2 never mind league 1. Good to see Marsh developing as an 89th minute sub when 5.0 down to Celtic... he soon got dropped. The club is absolutely shocking and wasting so much money.
Pleased you managed to get multiple digs in at Nwakali. Anyone might suspect you have a thing about him.
I've had multiple digs at multiple players, especially Roberts and he didn't even play. Should I not criticise because you rate him?
The difference between recruitment when the Crynes ran the club and after the consortium took over is the main focus of the recruitment. Under the Crynes the purpose was what it's always been before, to improve the team first and foremost. We signed players because the squad needed them and we went after the best we could afford, yes we sold players we always have. When the consortium took over the focus of recruitment gradually shifted from trying to improve the squad to trying to maximise profit on players sales Players were recruited without a thought being given to whether they were needed for the squad a scattergun approach was adopted we no longer tried to sign the best players we could afford we just tried to sign as many as possible. The club went from sporting club to badly run retail outfit. The consortium got giddy after some initial success with player sales profit mainly players left over from the Cryne era and put a plan in place that's left us with a completely unbalanced squad filled with failed attempts to repeat earlier successful player sales and a annual funding deficit of £6 to £8 million and the clueless rump of the original consortium running the club into the ground with the help of the incompetent clowns they've engaged to run the club day to day.
Nwakale is excellent at sitting and recycling the ball. From nice little touches to raking passes to overlapping wing backs. I’m not sure I’ve seen him put anyone through on goal yet though.
