I refuse to believe you can 'support' a club from an armchair and be 'gutted' if they lose. You are, unfortunately, way too typical of the majority of the population. No commitment, but want to be part of something good just for the time it is happening. Oh, and the rest of us can keep shelling out to support the club in the meantime. Surprised you went to the trouble of posting. Unless you were just trying to pass time on until the matches started on Sky?
I'm not be-littleing the 10,000, but why can't people on here accept we are never going to get average home crowds above 10,000. In the mid-eighties to the mid-nineties it was accepted that our crowds averaged 6 or 7,000 and that was that. 10,000 was a very good crowd for us at that time! But its true, too many on here are up there own arses and there is also a sense of elitism especially from the season ticket holders. I had a season ticket for 13 years on the trot but times change and not everyone wants to or cant get to watch the reds every week. As for Wembley, I'm sure a good few on here would like it to be filled with just the faithful 10,000. BTW BFC Dave, I'm not originally from Birdwell so I doubt very much you'll know me, fella.
Chuff me! Who threw you a biscuit? So what about Barnsley fans who live abroad or the other end of the country or the elderly who can't get? I would be gutted if we lost but it wouldn't affect me for weeks on end. Like I say I've done my bit following Barnsley through some very sh@t times. BTW, passing time on in between waiting for coats of paint to dry in the bathroom.
Ok mate, ... I probably invest too much time and emotion supporting BFC. When they lose, like yesterday, I'm down for at least the rest of the day. When we beat Chelsea, the only thing I thought about was picking up 3 points against Ipswich. Let's face it watching Barnsley is a bit of a hate/hate relationship, I hate going because I know that most of the time I'm going to be disappointed... but I'd hate not to go as I'd miss the few moments of real joy that are afforded such as the play off semi at huddersfield and ...... hmmm I'm struggling. God I'm a miserable fecker !!!!!
ive got a new shirt in quarters - man u, liverpool, arsenal and barnsley. will it be ok to wear it to wembley do you think?? with my chelsea shorts on of course.
RE: Ok mate, err..the playoff final? Wembley 2000? The Premiership? The Bratfud game? 7-1 v Uddersfeeled?
They may be few and far between mate but there have been a few!!
And has it been worth all the dross I've put myself through since I started in 1961? You bet it has!
I'd do it all again for just one of those occasions - it's what being a supporter is all about.
But I wouldn't have enjoyed those days half as much if the grounds hadn't been full of so-called 'part-timers' adding to the chaos, the atmosphere and the sheer joy of it all.

Not in any way criticising those who are exiled or too old/infirm to attend. I may be one of those myself one day. Just making the point that the good days are only made possible by those of us willing to actively support the club through its (all too many) bad days. Occasions like Liverpool, Chelsea and Wembley are for us. The good is only fully appreciable in the context of the bad. For the rest of you it must be like being uninvited guests at a wedding.
Reckon you might be wasting your breath here mate. I was one who lived abroad for a time and attended when I can as you know. I hope I would never be called a part timer. I have no problem with people who want to have a day out at Wembley but to brag about it on here is asking to be slated.
But why shouldn't I be able to enjoy a day out at Wembley and to say it would be like being an uninvited guest at a wedding is a bit patronising to say the least! If I go into the mode of some on here, I was one of the 5,000 we used to regularly get throught the late 80s, when 10,000 was a fantastic crowd for us. Just because I dont go to Oakwell on a regular basis doesn't meen I cant still follow the team. I know what its like to appreciate the good and more usually the bad, with following Barnsley, so you cant go there, Dodeth.
I would think that all the 3000 season ticket holders that didn’t get tickets for Anfield have every right to have a grumble. So lets lay of the Anfield moaners as I don’t see a link with Saturdays attendance. No part time season ticket holders pal
