I will reply again we've rebuilt 3/4, of the stadium. It's a modern. Fit for purpose. Facility. Do you want them to demolish it and start again Or maybe you are suggesting the Alan' finlay plan
Quite obviously things could be done. We could install a massive scoreboard, we could fill in the corners, we could rebuild the West Stand. Would any of that benefit my match day experience? No. Would it help the club? Not necessarily. It would cost a fortune. What do you suggest we do?
Superb Also, ashton. Gate been a long way from the city centre. Is a very different. Proposition to Oakwell
We enjoyed a walk to Ashton Gate and back from the station yesterday. The weather was fine. It was about 2.4 miles each way. However, wouldn't do it on a regular basis if I was a fan there. I like my Oakwell match experience. Easy to get to, can enjoy pre match with friends and family in Redfearns, getting decent value, good quality drinks and food, served by friendly people who care about the club. I can enjoy BFC related entertainment and/or Sky Sports before the game. What else do I need?
Opinions and choices. Dare say we'll all have a variation. Take the West Stand out of the equation and I'm not sure, from my own perspective, what I see as being in need of development. It's a fair statement of fact that little of visible note has been done in the last 14 years, but I'm not sure what needs doing, again in my own opinion. In half of my lifetime we've got three new stands, a huge training/academy complex, surfaced car park, undersoil heating, corner stand. From a purely personal angle, all I want on a matchday is there. And everything our club has is on its doorstep. I'll admit to being easily pleased.
I've watched Barnsley for 52 years since I was 5. I think people have a totally different conception of the club and it's history to what I have witnessed. To have the sort of club you seem to want I'd suggest we need an extra 10k fans through the gate every week. Until that happens I'll stick to living in the real world.
Ah, you're one of the lucky 200. I think it's a shame that the concept proven by Redfearn's hasn't been expanded to be big enough to include a wider audience.
Until last season I hadn't been since the early 90s. It's changed beyond recognition, but so as Oakwell with the exception of the west stand.
The ale service could be a lot better. But stadium wise I prefer Oakwell to the new sanitised oval versions that Rotherham and Donny have got. What else do you want at the ground?
Absolutely no luck involved. I know that if I get to the ground by 1.30pm, I'll more than likely get in. Quite often I can't get there that early because my daughter has a game in the morning. So I go straight into the ground. I'd agree that the club could do with a larger venue, that more people could access, but it's fairly simple to get into Redfearns if you wish to - just get there early enough.
