I get the belief confidence part, but considering both Kieffer & Cauley have spent time out due to injuries this season so wasn’t inconceivable that one of them could be out of action again.

Signing Miller was daft given the circumstances.

Dare it be naive or stupid of me to suggest that this situation could actually play into the hands of the club.... if they so wish to stay in this ale House league... In this league they can develop to sell... Its a different proposition in the championship..... Maybe it explains lack of movement in the January window
I'm not saying its correct... Just playing the devil's advocate
What you guys think.... The owners keep talking the walk but what have they so far achieved apart from relegation..... Yes we are second playing some great football got a good manager got a decent team.. Keep being told promotion is our aim... but that can change direction overnight... Selling 3 players in the summer makes them the same money as promotion. If not more.. Not good for the fans... Club in healthy position similar budget no extra championship wages or budget...
Discuss at your will... Apologies for taking thread in a different direction...

I don't believe that to be the case. I don't think their remit is simply to make money on every player and bugger everything else.

They may well have made a mistake in going with what we have, but I seriously don't think it's based on saving a few quid.

These guys have so much money that they don't need to take anything out of the football club for years. It's not like me needing to draw a weekly wage from my business. They've already made it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they act quickly to bring in a free agent or two to bulk up the squad.

I think Miller was brought in as one for the future. Nowt really to do with this season's squad. Didn't we sign a South American striker as well?

That would be pointless. They're absolutely loaded and a few million here and there split between them would be like pocket change.

It's a bit like when someone suggested they wanted to build houses on Oakwell. They've got so much brass, they could buy land anywhere and stick houses on it. It's just bonkers talk!

These guys haven't come to keep us in league one. I'm absolutely certain of that.

If they want to develope and sell players, the further up the pyramid, the better the profit.

There's been a great deal of naivety shown by the new board so far. Their choice of manager for a relegation scrap, selling a useful player to a promotion rival and leaving the squad short of strikers following two transfer windows.

Respect your views completely. Agree about Morais, but prior to the season starting the appointment of Stendel could equally have been seen as naive, or a brave gamble depending on your viewpoint. Results to date would suggest the latter. Arguably shows that football isn't the exact science it seems to have to be.

Regarding the strikers, I think we've got the two best ones in the division and I can't see how we'd be able to recruit a third striker as good as them. They could have brought in two strikers for the money spent on Woodrow but would they have been as good? Hence why I think we've got backup with Brown in particular. But I accept that whoever steps in for Moore has to deliver or at least complement Woodrow and take the pressure off him.

Brown has shown what he's capable of. Better the devil we know rather than spend on someone not necessarily any better that might not deliver? The new board have stated a belief in our younger players and the academy.

I wasn't expecting a 3rd striker to be as good as Woodrow and Moore, just much better than what we actually have in reserve.

Fitzytyke respect your views but are you overlooking the fact that the board have gone on record stating they are not going to throw millions at it.. The club has to generate its own way forward re income... These rich boys don't get rich by spending it wily nilly..

It's too late to get a new striker in now, even if we could; the season would likely be over before he got up to speed with Daniel's approach. I think that's why Green hasn't featured yet.
We've got to hope that he will soon and that what we've got now can be shuffled to keep up the momentum.
ps for the benefit of Northern Dreamer, it goes without saying that I feel for Kieffer and hope his convalescence is short and successful.

What did you want him to say? ‘I was desperate for some cover because the lads on the fringe of the squad are a bunch of w@nkers and the owners are tighter than a Scotsman with no arms.’ He has to tow the party line. You’re obsessing over a throwaway line in a press conference that he had to say, you’ve brought it up about five times.

Agreed. That said, a lot depends on how good Sunderland & Pompey are on the run in too. Losing Maja in January was a big loss for Sunderland. And Grigg is looking poor...

He didn't have to say anything. So do you think he asked the board to back him and they refused? I don't obsess over anything.I'd rather react to what the manager/owners players etc say than someones perception on this board.

If asked if he was happy with his squad, of course he did.

Imho we needed a keeper and a striker as reserves in jan but I guess the powers that be thought we would be ok.
I believed the only bit i thought we were ok in was midfield......just hope our coach can pull this off.

I'm not overlooking anything. I know exactly what they said when they took over, and I like that. I don't want us to buy success.

Where did I say they were going to chuck millions at the club?

What I suggested was they are extremely wealthy and will be aiming higher than staying in league one for the sake of making a quick buck on players.

But you pick and choose. You did it last year with Hecky. He did say that he signed the players. But he also said, several times, that he didn't. You steadfastly ignored this, even when you were directed to the interview, and continued to quote the same line ad infinitum. You can't take one line from a press conference and build the whole inner workings of the club around it, ignoring anything that contradicts the view, even if that contradiction comes directly from the original source. Well, you can, you can do anything you like, but I'm not sure how you believe censoring yourself from relevant information on a subject you actively involve yourself in is any benefit to you.

One thing that does concern me is big kkef is our top scorer and our shots per goal conversion is poor.....dont get me wrong i brag about how many shots we have in comparison to our rivals but i do feel our shooting is poor ie....lack of direction and/ or power.....with our main lad out we need to squeze these games out and improve our shots on....sounds daft coz we have plenty and have scored a few but, i feel we need to be more accurate.
