Window Energy Ratings You could always get some of the new windows that are energy rated, they'll be coming out in the next few days from Sash UK. Saves on bills like you wouldn't believe. Just about pay for themselves in the first year and considering how much the bills are rising they probably would pay for themselves in the first year! Compared to standard windows that is. And that is my sales pitch for tonight! They are good though and the figures to prove it.
Pay for themselves in the first year? Go on then I'll have some of that...new glazing for under a grand!
RE: Why would they 'Entrepreneurs with capitalist ideology may well sense a business opportunity of exploiting the abundant coal reserves under this island of ours where the price for energy makes the break even point for the coal below the price the market has determined. ' What a ridiculous sentence! You dont have a clue do you? And the work ethic comment... The only reason i can think someone would write that is to wind people up. ******.
RE: Pay for themselves in the first year? You obviously pay more for them as it is more expensive to make however compared to normal 'k' glass you'll make that money back in the first year. After that you'll be saving on energy bills every year. And you even get the Energy Saving Trust blue triangle like you do on fridges and other white goods to say you're saving the environment! Aww!
agreed they should be encourageing people to get it, need tochange my heating system anyway, still on old twenty five year old back boiler.
As far as I can make out all I need is the Panel, tank (should be able to use old one) with lecci emergency heater for winter months, pump to send it from tank to panel and back and some lengths of pipe + fixings. Put tank up in loft for gravity flow and bobs thi mothers brother.
(Y)

Eh how does that work exactly My heating bill for a year is just under £1000 I already have double glazing so I would be surprised if more than 10% of the heat loss went through the windows. so even if yours are perfect it and cost £1000 would take 10 years to pay it back. As I guess to redo my house would be nearer £10000 pounds we are looking at 100 years to get the money back - I doubt they would last that long
RE: Eh how does that work exactly I'm comparing it to standard double glazing. And these figures have come from BFRC and EST who have done all the scientific calculations so who am I to argue. Basically if you were replacing your windows with 'energiKare' (and certain PVCu profiles) compared to standard 'k' then the extra price would be made back in savings over a year. After that the savings would increase year on year due to rising energy costs (based on an average 10% yearly rise over the next 20 years). My point being if you're replacing your windows then go for the energy rated windows to save money over time. If you're worried about rising energy costs then it might still be worth looking into. I can only show you the facts, whether you chose to believe them is up to you.
Ah with you now So if you are replacing your windows with the extra cost of the energiKare windows should be repaid within a year is your actual claim. As I dont know the extra cost I cant comment on whether one year is correct for me it would need to be no more than £100 to £200 to get the money back that quick
ah but they'll only work if... ...the installer knows what he's doing and does as he's supposed to. FENSA certs - pah!
And in the mean time... whilst we wait for the "Entrepreneurs with their capitalist ideology", the country is at the mercy of foreign investors and suppliers. She really put thre GREAT back in Great Britain didn't she?
The pits were closed due to political ideology and revenge If you want to, you can make anything look expensive by loading costs onto it on a balance sheet.

Amen, brother The Social cost (as Cameron is now saying a future Tory Goverment will integrate into decisions) of closing the pits and other industry has far outweighed the monetry cost. But hell, we smashed the unions
RE: Amen, brother Will they f-ck.
As with the current govt, whoever has access to them will get the benefit of 'revitalising' our coal industry, and no doubt the masses of land that come with the pit sites.

No doubts... Even parts of the Coal Industry that remain now rely on Russion money. And when Scargill and the NUM got Russion money they were "The Enemy Within"
We couldn't believe the spending that was going on. It never occurred to us that anyone could be so recklessly malevolent as to blow such a massive amount of public money to make an industry appear unprofitable just out of, as you say, political ideology and revenge.

RE: We couldn't believe the spending that was going on. Our old man said the same. Threw money at his pit in the 2 years prior to its closure. 10 years of reserves, easily obtainable down there it was reckoned too, suddenly became 'uneconomic' - dash for gas - that worked out brilliantly eh ?
