He was given dogs abuse by a minority, and for what reasons I'll never know. But he certainly wasn't chased out of the club. The stick he received had stopped long before he left for a new challenge. Because he had a backbone, and got on with it. Just as Bobby Hassell did when he too received grief in his early BFC career. And just as Scott Wiseman seems to have done now. They're human beings, they do have feelings and to boo and abuse them directly online is rather sad and pathetic. But to suggest - as you have done - that 'the supporters' caused Scott's decline in form/confidence is what I'm disputing. It was caused by Hill.
Been making a video (or trying to) and watching clips of the 7-1 Huddersfield game reminded me just how key Barnard and Eaden were for us in the late 90's. Crossing ability to die for.
Sorry, exactly what did Keith Hill do to cause Wiseman to lose confidence. Given that he is playing at centre half under Filtcroft to much acclaim, it cannot be that. Given that he has played at wing back and full back under both Flitcroft and Hill, Hill did nothing different there either. Given that Flitcroft was part of the player's management team prior to his appointment in the managers seat, I'm stumped to understand just what has changed. Finally, given that Hill was his manager at his previous club, and yet he moved with him to Barnsley, suggests that they enjoyed working together. And yet you assert that the player's confidence was destroyed by Hill, who actively supported him in interviews with the press. Keith Hill's results can be questioned, particularly this season, but his support for his players cannot.
By playing him continually, despite the players obvious failings at that time. Had he rested him, I'm sure it would have helped Scott. In fact, his 'rest' after turning down the Blackpool move seems to have worked wonders. Keith selected him ahead of Stones for the Blackburn game. Then after conceding a goal that stemmed from a Wiseman error at centre half, he moved him to right back. Where he again made a mistake (with O'Brien, too if I remember correctly) and the "Oh Bobby Hassell" chant began, and a few morons booed Scott the next time he received the ball. Hill then subbed him at half time. But by then it was too late. Weeks too late. And he paid for it with his job. In other words, I blame Keith for not taking him out of the firing line, both for the lads confidence, and for BFC's own good.
Look, I have already conceded that he had a bad game against Blackburn. He was indecisive and lacked confidence. There is no argument there. The only argument is what caused that performance, supporter pressure or management support. We are obviously not going to reach any agreement on this one, so why don't we just call it a draw and go to bed. Here's hoping for a victory on Saturday. I do not have the guts to attend, or to listen. I will be going for a walk and hope all is well when I return. Come on you Reds.
He had a bad game almost weekly back then. Them's the facts. Just watched the Player footage of the first 2 Blackburn goals, and even Matt and Adam on commentary are commenting on the idiocy of dropping Hassell and Stones and Wiseman's poor form. But as you say, and as I said earlier, we'll never agree on this so let's move on. You Reds.
I've been gagging to change it. But it's since I made it my avatar that his form has arrived. Can't change it until we're safe.
I also think the added pressure of being captain distracted Wiseman, If I was him I would be ****ed off with Hill.... Humble Pie for me and Wiseman I have not been his biggest fan however his performances have been outstanding WELL DONE SCOTT
