Never the prettiest to watch and got a lot of stick from some sections of the crowd but created so much for the flair players in the side with his running off the ball, play with his back to goal, and generally being a big awkward barstool for defenders. Darren Sheridan also attracted his fair share of criticism as did Andy Liddell - mental when you consider that they were all key parts of our greatest ever team.

Steve Davis. Very important player in our promotion season, often overlooked because of his major injury around Christmas time.

I would have thought a lot of these players mentioned were rated - baker and Gwynn Thomas especially. Agree with ray mchale - Nicky Eden as well - fantastic attacking fullback - always remember the goal he scored against sheffield united

Not that I've owt against Bruce

For his record is very good but how many games did he play in midfield in comparison with Sheron?

How many assists did Sheron get in comparison with Bruce?

I think Sheron was very much underated, if overpaid and latterly lethargic.

For me, on his day, he was one of the best players I've seen play for us.

I could never understand Norman Hunter selling him to Grimsby, especially when he let Ian Evans go a few months later.

Don't think Dyer ever played in midfield. I've no idea about assists.

It's all about opinions isn't it. For the most part I thought Sheron was average, with the occasional touch of brilliance, but a propensity for laziness. For the money we spent on him I felt let down.

Sheron was a confidence player. And a player I liked.
It's hardly his fault that he cost us what he did. I mean, Georgi Hristov cost us similar and produced naff all, yet got treated like a hero.
    .
As for my own choices, I'll say Brendan O'Connell, Andy Liddell and my favourite under-rated player Martin Bullock.
Watch the 96 to 98 campaigns and **** me the boy was sumat else. What I wouldn't give to see another Bully running at defenders. Hammill during his 4 month purple patch came close.

Spot on - Souness deliberately crocked him before the ball left the centre circle in the League Cup replay at Oakwell (81/2). As a result we under performed compared to the first match at Anfield and got beat.

Chris Hedworth was never given the time he deserved. I put it down to him being the hairiest man alive and around that time the american werewolf in London was out and I think people thought he had joined the reds and they were just a bit scared.
