Gary McCallister. He just always seemed to have time and space on the ball in a way most other players could only dream of

Bang on P. Glavin benefitted from his link up play.

Underrated. ?. I would have thought one of the best midfield goalscorers ever to play for England. Not as good as Glavin though. :)
And I say that honestly. As I believe Glavin should have played at the highest level. Was rated better than Dalglish. Whilst up in Scotland.

As far as defenders go, Paul McGrath. Never mentioned in all-time teams, but he was that good.

Most under rated barnsley player. Nicky eaden when I first started watching us.

And more recently devante Cole, could do no right even though he was top scorer 2 seasons running.

Also thought marley Watkins was under rated in the 2016 promotion team.

I liked Watkins. Such a useful squad player. Could play as an out & out striker, one of the wide forwards in a front 3 or on the wing in a midfield 4.

I think he’s just won player of the season for his current team in the SPL

Totally. Technically he was probably the best here at the time. Have you seen that goal he scored for Blackburn where he gathers it with a flick and takes it on before beating the keeper? Tremendous skill.

Trouble with us is that we've got such a track record of great centre backs that some hardly get mentioned. Steve Davis was great for us imo.

For the Reds, George Kerr (obviously) and John Bettany. Non Red, Robin Friday, the greatest footballer you never saw, according to the book. He played one game at Oakwell 20th October 1975 scoring one goal for Reading in a 4-2 defeat to the Reds.

Not sure about underrated with Berbatov, as 9 times out of 10, he looked a very mediocre footballer, and then he'd do something that would be better than anything you'd ever seen before. A bit similar to Paddy McCourt with us. He did things better than anyone I've ever seen at Oakwell, but he literally did it twice in 12 months.

For us, I'd agree with someone further up who says Marley Watkins. I'd also say Jacob Brown, he got some right stick over his prowess in front of goal, yet it was rarely mentioned how many goals he laid on for others, whether directly or indirectly. A very intelligent footballer who was clearly levels above playing for us at the bottom end of the Championship (at the time). I firmly believe that had we kept Jacob Brown one more year, we'd have made a better fist of promotion that year under Big Val.
