    My head hurts reading that - so I'll bid you goodnight.

    "Average championship player" is clearly incorrect though. He's one of the best players in a side that finished 5th. That's not average to me.

    Because a couple of your mates on Tykes Mad half agree with you ,does not make what you are saying as facts & I repeat that I have never read any statements where Mowatt has made any demands at all or criticised the club & he has certainly not publicly questioned the clubs ambition , all I have seen are comments on forums which are pure speculation but if you can show me in black & white these facts you believe, then I will apologise.

    Mate he said it during last contract negotiations and funny thing is i dont buy chronicle so its either been news now or a link what someone left for us to read, what can a do? I cant say i wish i never said anything because it put me off him so i know i red it.

    My guess is an article might have said something like “he will probably want to see what the clubs ambitions are for the future” then stuck an Alex mowatt quote next to it. Or maybe used a separate quote from Dane next to it. That’s probably more likely.

    Not one person to back up the statement with facts. Until I see it. I'll treat it as a rumour. How on earth could anyone think differently. He's never said he's not going to sign. Dane has quite clearly said on several occasions they would look at the situation when the season finished to leave out the distraction. Both were happy with that situation.
    Alex will look at any offers and not necessarily the highest bidder. I get the impression at this age he doesn't see himself as a bench warmer.

    he may be ok at that, but the fast passing end to end attacking might be new , unless Bielsa going for the lump it up front and win the 2nd ball tactics next season

    Just one thing to add for people questioning Mowatt and his ability. He did make the EFL team of the year. That’s a pretty high accolade and shows the high regard he’s held in... outside of Barnsley fan circles.

    He may or may not be premiership quality, but he’s certainly earned a right to try if someone wants to pick him up on a free transfer.

    Just picking up on the EFL team point, last year 10 of the 11 picked in the team of the year went on to play premier league football the following year. Admittedly 6 of the 10 achieved it through promotion but, Benrahma, Watkins, Eze and Ben White either transferred or returned to parent club in White’s case.

    This year five of the named team are already guaranteed premier league football. Toney could make it on Saturday if Brentford win the play-offs.

    Being named in that side together with the facts he was the captain, performed strongly over the year and he’s out of contract would suggest a team in the premier league would take a punt on Alex.

    I suppose we’ll know for definite in 3 months, but good luck to him whatever he chooses.

    Cheers, the point is the only alleged comments made by Mowatt have never happened , he has kept quiet & got on with his job ,referring only to the end of the season as a time when any decision on his future would be made, but some fans are hell bent on bad mouthing Mowatt same as they did with Woodrow before he resigned, yet no one has backed up their claims by showing any of these alleged statements , they are just stirring the pot & get right up my nose .

    I did find a quote last night where he was alledged to say he would have to see how things look then (at point of contract), it was on a right jumble of a website, that often didn’t make sense, so have no idea of validity or context.

    Even there , he does not criticise the club & says basically what he has said all along that he will make his mind up after the season ends & his future will be decided then , the lad has said nothing detrimental at all , but people make things up to fit their agenda .
