I don’t get it. I always look out for former players and unless they are playing against us hope they do well. Alex has been brilliant for us. If he had a little more pace he would be playing at the highest level. It would be great for him to stay and imo the best for him in terms of starting week in week out but of course if the money is too good to turn down elsewhere it’s understandable if he takes that decision.

 

Alex was a promising player at Leeds & fell out of favour and lost his way a little. As a result wasn't an instant success with us, but when he came back from loan he was a different player. His big failing for me prior to this season was his set pieces, especially corners. This year he has been outstanding with those deliveries from wide. He has been first name on the team sheet all season as far as I see it. Big Val would not have kept him captain, if he wasn't living & breathing the message. He has been outstanding.

I expect him to move on as I don't think our pay structure will compete with other clubs. We'll just have to see. He's done plenty in recent seasons, especially this one & I wouldn't begrudge him a move that may seem him financially sorted for life.

it was also reported in the Yorkshire post - something around us needing to show Alex what are plans were or some such.

Alex is never quoted anywhere about us lacking ambition. It simply didn’t happen.

I think when the then manager played him out of position on the wing and then loaning him to Oxford was a massive mistake. He always had the ability at that time he had played over 110 championship games, he just needed a bit of guidance to get his career back on track stendel gave him that.
