I think if he was just a really good player we’d be trying to sell him but he’s the heartbeat of the side, the captain & the most popular player at the club. I’d offer him the maximum the club can afford to pay & if he wants to leave it until the summer & see what other contracts are on the table then so be it. We aren’t going to be in the **** in the summer. We shouldn’t need to urgently recoup a transfer fee to bring in new players as we’ve got about 20 first team players under contract going into next season. I think if you asked most people about the summer window they’d ask for another forward & a replacement for Mowatt if he leaves & that’s about it barring a few fringe players been moved on.
Let’s not forget - if he wants to stay, he will. He’s done the bigger club move. He’s fell down the leagues on loan. He wants to remain local. He’s club captain. For me, if he doesn’t sign this month, he’s gone. The club can’t be held to ransom. It appears we’ve offered a decent deal, but he feels he might get better elsewhere. That’s fair enough, and I don’t begrudge that. But football’s a funny old game. And listening to Ben Marshall on UTC podcast, money isn’t everything...... I do think though, come the summer, if he does go, we’ve Palmer and Styles to a lot in. Hence why Palmer is being given more of a run now. Blocking routes to the first team for the youth doesn’t help promote youth.
No doubt... The amount of biscuits Barry devoured youd need a cupboard the size of Italy to store them
Let him go. Where's the sense in hanging on to a player if we can't agree on how to pronounce his name. More trouble than he's worth.
