Was always going to happen as soon as Val went there. Ah well, thanks for your service Alex, some great memories and even when you knew you were probably going you didn't half arse it or shirk any tackles. All the best (except for when you play Tarn obviously).
Why what’s wrong with a departing player thanking club and fans and showing their appreciation. Think it’s a good touch myself. However, I’m not too bothered if they leave saying nowt either
I can live with competitive given our budget is one of the smallest i don't expect us to be top 6 next season or even top 10
I hope he leaves with a message for the fans. He’s been one of our best & most committed players this century. I was ready to write him off. He didn’t look interested. He went out on loan & at that time I can’t remember many complaints. He was poor at Oxford on loan. I thought he was headed the same way as Jacob Mellis. And then it clicked. He got himself fit before pre-season & I remember been shocked as he won the bleep test in the first week back because the last time I’d watched him he seemed one of the unfittest players we had. And then we’ve had 3 brilliant seasons from him. For me he’s been our best player in all 3. Rarely misses a game, never dodges a challenge, our leader, loved by his team mates, scores goals, assists them, sets the tempo. Just brilliant. For me he’s a better player than Conor Hourihane, certainly in open play anyway. However there’s no doubting the quality of Hourihane’s set pieces. He beats Mowatt in that department. As for West Brom. I’m sure having a manager who trusts him helps but he’s gone there for money. Of course he has. Parachute payments mean even high spending clubs like Forest, Derby, Boro etc can’t compete with them never mind us. I doubt Mowatt’s based his decision on Val going there with how short the average time a manager spends at a club is in the championship. The only way we had any chance of keeping either of them & Dike was to get promoted. Anyone saying otherwise were kidding themselves. As for Dane Murphy’s comments he was probably trying to sell season tickets. Whether that’s morally right or not’s up for debate but he’s not going to come out & say ‘unless we go up he’s leaving’.
I'd say it is morally correct because in the footballing world they have the morals of sh 1 t house rats.
