Can't be true. Dragon Tyke informed us that he's already gone to Millwall.

Anyone advocating just letting Mowatt go, is clearly FUBAR.

At this point more than any, we need him. We've already seen how light we are now James has gone and tbf, Mowatt has been different class for us this season and for the majority of the time since he came back from Oxford.

He owes us nothing. He cost 200k and continues to work his bóllocks off for the cause.

I'll be gutted if he leaves tbf. I think we should try as much as we can to pay him his worth.

it reminds me of when we let Scowen go, which I felt was a disgrace at the time. He wanted 8k a week, we let him go for nothing and replaced him with players who cost 800k, weren't as good but on 6k a week. It made absolutely zero financial sense and probably got us relegated.

Agree with your sentiment and totally agree about Josh, but I don't get the impression the current regime are quite so inflexible.
Bearing in mind they kept Woodrow and offered to make Pinnock our highest paid player I expect we have given Mowatt an offer we think is as good as we can.

If he isnt going to take it we have then a choice keep him for the second half season and let him go for free - with a chance if he cant find a significantly better offer he may still decide to stay , Sell him if someone offers us a reasonable fee

It sounds as if the club have a figure ~ 1.2million which if met means we would cash in and take the money, any less than that and we will take what we can get from his performances the second half of the season but recognise he is going.
I cant argue too much with that approach

I wonder if we have the option of offering him a signing on fee in the summer, that allows him to cash in, and us to keep the wage structure (relatively) in tact. Would still be cheaper than replacing him.

I agree with you 100% & what puzzles me is we have fans on here who have rightly banged the drum for a long time about not making the same mistakes as before by selling our crown jewells in the january window , but are wanting the club to sell Mowatt , given that James has moved on the last thing we want to do is lose another major player or we will be doing the exact same thing that evreyone was up in arms about , at least hang on to him until the summer & keep some continuity in the team , you never know it might take until the summer before he decides to resign , we will see .

I think he does want to stay at oakwell but money is the stumbling block. If he goes out of contract in the summer I imagine they will be a hose of clubs interested who can pay him more.

But if he does want to stay, that will be worth something. I guess it depends how much more clubs will be offering, which in turn depends on what guarantees there are for fans in grounds.

I thought this... almost like a bonus signing contract extension which in effect ups his wage....

True no doubt he wants to stay as its local, but if we lose out to clubs like millwall on wages then its worrying imo. I could understand winnall going Wednesday wages go from 4k to 19k or connor to villa 4k to 27k but if he went to millwall surely they can't afford to pay that much more than us. With fans we average more. I say this but he could end up staying woodrow did and I expected him to leave.

Mcgeehan would so definitely be starting under Big Val as would Cavare and Moore.

Cavare? He would’ve been the first one out of the club.
