Now its restored and we know where it is it should never be allowed to get in that state again... Well done to everyone involved
Another interesting piece on him.... http://www.chrishobbs.com/tivertonpreedy.htm Googled him to find out if he had family still alive and to why his grave was left to get like this.
The two main architects in this were John Mills and John Daykin. John Mills had the idea after we won promotion to the Premier league in 1997. He contacted the Supporters Club with the idea and we launched a Fund to restore the grave. The money needed was raised pretty quickly. John Daykin helped with the background and history of Rev Preedy. JM managed top trace family members and the Islington Church where the Reverand Preedy went after leaving Barnsley. All parties were consulted and agreed this could go ahead. Unfortunately J M left London and we had to wait until Paul came along, with his London colleagues and took up the challenge and finished the project off We deliberately left out any mention of his association with Barnsley FC through fear of vandals. We know from experience this has happened in similar circumstances with Players graves etc.
Bloody well done to all involved....You should be very proud of yourselves its a wonderful gesture and no mistake....
Wow! Thanks for this... ...it's of great personal interest.
The second part of the piece ends with a copy of a letter written by the Club in 1928, acknowledging the return to the Club of the 1912 Cup Final ball. The letter is handwritten and signed by Arthur Fairclough - my grandfather's cousin (and therefore my cousin twice removed).

Excellent piece of work, congratulations to all involved. Wonder what it might cost to have "Founder of Barnsley Football Club" engraved on it? Would we be allowed to do that?
Previous grave was vandalised .. Possibly for having a Barnsley FC wreath placed on it. Makes sense not to mention the club, after all we know who he is.
I think it's great and I am not criticising but.... ... do you think that the Wikipedia entry could be adjusted to change "where" to "were"?
The funds where raised by the the Barnsley FC Supporters Trust and the restoration conceived and completed by members of both the Trust and the London Tykes.
Would make all the difference.
