The fee for a 30yo is ridiculous and must surely be a record.

Having said that, I think that they will get more value out of this guy than they did for Pogba.

He might turn out to be useless and discover the Premier League to be too fast for him. But there’s no denying that when you list the qualities they need in midfield right now, he ticks as many boxes as anyone else who might be available.

The challenge will be who else comes in. They need 4/5 of this calibre otherwise he’ll be wasted.

If Pep wants Kalvin Phillips to be Fernandinho's successor - then it's probably best to trust his judgement I'd say. He's just played in and England midfield that has reached the World Cup Semi Finals and the Euros Final.

Bizarre belitting of him imo. It was just a comparison in fees for the ages of the two players who play in a similar position - one has Premier League experience, one does not.

    This thread is mental.

He’s younger than Lewandowski, Salah, Mane, De Brunye etc.

He’s probably at his peak. With modern athletes, nutrition etc. he might remain there for 4 or 5 years. Look at Messi, Ronaldo, Zlatan, Pirlo.

Yeah it’s crackers money. But that’s football at that level these days. Ancellotti has been very vocal about him staying a little longer to help the young players so they’ll want top dollar and they know united have the money / desperate need.

Forest are paying over £40m for someone who’s had 6 good months in the championship.

The assumption he’s a mercenary is a strange one. I mean, he might be. But we don’t know do we? If someone offers me way more money to do the same job I’m off. It doesn’t mean I’m automatically going to stop working hard and doing my best does it?

BBC News - Casemiro: What are Manchester United getting in Real Madrid midfielder?
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62603699

Quite a decent article this in that Casemiro is a big gamble in many ways. Ten Haag's style is to play a high line and is so different to the Madrid style that Casemiro has done well in.
It will be a big adjustment in a very different league and to a team that won't dominate most games . Be interesting to see if he can adjust to the pace and much different style and not be another Schweinsteiger

He might well turn out to be the best foreign import the Premier League has seen, or he could be another flop (and there have been many). Good luck to him in his accumulation of millions of pounds in lucrative contracts and I don't blame him for taking this one for one minute. I just despair the way obscene amounts of money is being thrown around like this during, supposedly, a world recession situation.

Hang on though - football clubs are not part of "normal" society are they?

They've got value for money so far.

    Bloke has barely played.

Hope he enjoys his 350k a week.

He's literally been there less than 1 month. I'm not really sure why you've fetched this back up, as though you're specifically targeting Casemiro and his wages. Very strange after such a short amount of time. If people think he's a mercenary, check out the obscenities of Kylian Mbappe.

Tbf I've just been watching the Man Utd game tonight and saw the game bypass him in the second half.

Then it struck me how little he's played so far.

I don't think anything I wrote was unfair. He's done sod all in this month. 1.2 million well spent so far.

Hes having it right off imo.

300k a week to train 3 hours a day and have weekends off.

    Grand job.

Seems like it's got under your skin by the speed of your reply - it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, just commenting on the difference he's not made.

Tbf there's 1 in 50 threads when I'm actually more right than wrong, so it was worth it.

I also have only just realised I'd already bumped it once before FFS.

My reply was 4 minutes after yours, because it was the top and I got a notification from you commenting on it? Why don't you bump it everytime Grealish doesn't start? Is it just the age difference? I genuinely don't get it mate

It’s a mental signing if he can’t even get in ahead of McTominay.

The fans are fuming with Ten Haag, 1 for not starting him, and 2 for not bringing him on after 20 minutes for Mctominay. I must admit, I'm loving the meltdown from them

I've no interest in Grealish, I was simply responding to folk on here as its a thread about Casameiro that's all. I said it was a bizarre move to spend that much money on a 30 year old, and was shot down for it by a few. So I'm having an Alan Partridge last laugh. Nowt malicious.

I agree with your point about him not starting though. Its bizarre. You've got a multiple time Champions League winner who can't get a game in front of Scott Mctominay. I don't get that bit.

Game has hone to pot! Did so a while ago..
Supporters are 'customers' and the players are so much more aloof imo. They only get involved with the fans/community under duress half the time!
Most are paid way over what they are worth too! Never seen so many one- footed players in my life either!
Atmosphere at most grounds is crap anall !!!
Time for a brandy methinks.. *slurp*

He's certainly paying off his fee now with Manchester united. Been excellent in their recent games before the world cup started. He's been one of the better midfielders at this world cup too.

I still think the price was a little high, but has anyone seen him more than usual and think differently at all? I'd be very surprised if he didn't end his career similar to that of Fernandinho

He's been brilliant these two matches - maybe the slower pace of the World Cup has suited him. Great goal yesterday too.

Be interesting to see if he kicks on in the second half of the season, or whether Ten Haag continues to pick McFred in front of him.

Still a ridiculous fee and contract amount though (imo of course).
