Don't be so hard on yourself - the ONLY ones I've heard of are Black Sabbath, Paramore, Artic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand. Oh and One Direction, sadly.
Me too, they were a great band. They were hardly big in Finland though, haha, I think I'd get strange looks from people if I told them that I listen to a band called Gorky's Zygotic Mynci! I listen to a lot of Welsh bands and artists actually, it all began with Super Furry Animals, and since everyone in the Welsh music scene seems to be somehow connected to each other, I discovered all those other great artists too. I've listened to Cate Le Bon before (he did some stuff together with Gruff Rhys of SFA and Meilyr Jones of Race Horses), I can't remember whether I liked it or not though... but I'm listening to her new album right now.

Yes he has. I got a bit bored of Gorky's towards the end (The Blue Trees) - they'd gone a bit folky for my tastes. Euros then started doing some fairly crazy stuff, which was interesting more than it was actually good (which is fine as far as I'm concerned!). He's since done a few quirky GZM style albums. Check out Miracle Inn and Summer Special by him too. I can't get into Cate Le Bon though. I'd like to, as she seems to collaborate with many of my favourite Welsh artists, but nevermind. I do like her vocals on the new Manics album though (Four Lonely Roads is the song she is on).
Bill callahan - dream river Kurt vile - walkin on a pretty daze David bowie - next day Hookworms Follakzoid -2 Also enjoyed wooden shjips, neko case, midlake and jim james amongst others
saw wooden shjips a couple of years ago at the brude. 20 minute psyche anthems. scarred are lass for life p.s. is that an intentional ktaftwerk reference in the name?
incredible how many artists out there, who never better their first album. i still thought neon bible was very good, but the difference between reflektor and funeral is staggering. up there with kings of leon, who went from the brilliant youth & manhood, to the absolute $hite they turn out today. game of opinions though..
Yes tomfun it is indeed a very obvious kraftwerk reference. Saw wooden shjips a couple of months ago at brudenell. It was very very loud
2013 got off to a terrible start for me musically when I found out that two of my favourite bands of recent years both split up (Race Horses and Pete & The Pirates). The nucleus of the latter band have since returned in Teleman but they're nowhere near as good imo.
